With the rate that the Max-31 Chainsaw eats food, I've found a need for a dedicated Suomi drum carrier. Here's a quick project that took just half an afternoon in the garage.

Coulda gone a lot quicker but I was using a pretty elaborate set of clamps and guides in order to keep my cuts spaced at perfect intervals. I used a circular saw for the slots and a jigsaw to cut the spacers. Donor tool box is a distinguished old fella I picked up from an estate sale (full of drill bits FTW!), been hanging onto it just waiting for an appropriate use.

The spacers extend just high enough to prevent the locking tabs from rubbing the adjacent drum. The spacers are sized to where they hold the sidebars rigidly against the interior of the toolbox, no glue or fasteners necessary. The side bars are spaced just far enough apart to where the drums rest on the wooden bars and don't quite touch the floor, which is comprised of a layer of anti-corrosion tool matting.

I put slitted aquarium tubing on the interior metal edges to prevent rubbing. Since I had a bit of room, I put jumbo silica packets in each end compartment.

Nine drums should be plenty heavy enough. Wish there was a good spot for a shoulder strap. :thinking
