For about 23 years I have wanted a suppressor for my Uzi. Local gun store has had a new Gemtech Mossad II in the display case for 699 longer than I can remember. At least a decade. Talk me out of it.

Suppressors are a lot of fun, especially in pistol calibers.

The Mossad would be cool but it’s an older design. I would recommend a tri-lug barrel or threaded and use a modern suppressor.

Rugged just released their 9mm subgun (Sub 9) can. There are a lot of great choices on the market right now. Just buy one from an established company because new ones popping up post $200 tax stamp may or may not have good or crappy cans. A quality one won’t be cheap.

Lyman has released a new seried of cans. From 199.99 - 299.99 as soon as I can get my mits on one I'll be buying it.
Both direct thread and muzzle brake attachments.

But that big thing dangling off the end of the barrel is just not "Uzi". The over-barrel design it the "look". This gemtech is nice. Atlantic Coast Machine has the mims which I've been eyeing as well.

Some suppressors in pistol calibers are made to accommodate the shift in barrel position of ordinary semi-auto pistols. Avoid models with that feature, since an Uzi's barrel does not move when fired.

My father went to the doctor with a sore throat. Turns out that he had advanced lymphoma, his whole body was shot through with cancer. He lived about 3 months.

If you can genuinely afford it, go get the suppressor. Because there are no guarantees in this life, of anything.

If you have been wanting something for 10 years, it's not a passing fancy.

The nice thing about buying gun stuff is that it's a one-time buy. Decades ago, I bought a S&W 617 for about $700 in today's money. It still looks brand new. I have spent zero dollars on it since then, aside from a drop of lube here and there. I could sell it on gunbroker for about what I paid.

People don't end up poor from buying a $700 suppressor. They lose all their money from buying stuff like new cars and expensive vacations.
That suppressor is basically one single car payment on a $35,000 car.

One thing to keep in mind is that the suppressor will change the noise from HUGE to "sort of loud-ish." It's a nice improvement but don't expect action movie quiet. I don't use my suppressor that much because I like the balance and handling of the gun without it.

Also, I had to get a threaded FBI length barrel for my suppressor, the accuracy was horrible with a barrel nut mount. Some UZIs do not work well with the barrel nut mount, for reasons unknown.

Get it. You know you want it. And offer him a bit lower if it’s been there that long. Say 500 and maybe meet in the middle

You cant go wrong with the Mossad or the MK9 they are both still made by GSL as the Phoenix and Jericho. For sure Amphibian has the best set up for suppressors on subguns. The MK9 has a much more pleasing tone to me and the DB reduction is nearly the same just depends on what you want.

I wouldn't get the Mossad... All aluminum baffles and not serviceable....no way I'd buy that.
I recently noticed that the cyclic rate had gone up in one of my suppressors and it filled with so much crap, it was overdue for a cleaning.
The ported area is easy clean as I just take a punch and smack it from the outside and chunks fall out.
The issue is there was so much build up on the blast baffle it took 3 days with direct agitation in a heated ultrasonic with 100% CLR. Which BTW you shouldn't use on aluminum.

You might want to consider a "low backpressure" model. I really like my 7.62 VELOS for .30 cal and 5.56 firearms - which significantly reduces the gas cloud around my face compared to older suppressors. I've been looking hard at the Dead Air Mojave 9 for 9mm subguns.

Amphibian always makes sense. So whats my best option? I like the barrel nut adapter idea. Nobody makes those anymore.

I have already got a 9mm threaded FBI barrel i can put a 3 lug adapter on. I should just try it with my Rugged Obsidian 45 i have a tri mount for. I dont trust the threaded barrel I have, need alignment rods to check.

1st choice for me would be a Shaw mk9 with 3 lug. Second choice would be GSL mk9k with 3 lug.
Agree on the first choice and I think he can also do the UZI barrel nut setup, if not I still have some original Gemtech UZI short mounts. There is an ad I have here on Uzitalk and on my website.

GSL remake of the MK9K is called the Phoenix and uses aluminum baffles and inner tube - hard pass for me. Also longer and heavier than the Shaw MK9 which uses no aluminum

The CAT Mob is another option to consider. I’ve contemplated getting one but just can’t get past my concerns about it not being user serviceable. I do like low backpressure stuff though.

I have a friend with a CAT MOB. It is quieter than my CT9KS (Shaw MK9) but it isn't a huge difference. The CAT MOB is also a lot longer and I don't think looks as good as a short fat can.

Since FRT's / SS's are relatively new, I wonder if we will start seeing people clog up these 3D printed cans. All the nooks and crannies in those designs, I'm skeptical that they can be cleaned properly especially if not done regularly.

There is a thread on AR15.com about these:
Finnish company that has setup manufacturing in the US. I'm skeptical how quiet they are but they are saying little to no backpressure and all models are user serviceable. Not cheap. That 'turbine' core is self tightening from the propellant gases and 'future proof' as you can get new cores as tech improves (at a cost). They also make them HUB compatible, using this in conjunction with the UZI barrel nut mount would look nice.

Not cheap and again, I have no first hand experience with them. I see Youtube videos from 2 years ago but looks like they are making a push from a few months ago and at the Shot Show last week.
