I had (and refused) an offer of $75,000 for a pair of better than new Groupie's with Colt 6721 uppers...I had M60Joe tune them both up to spec and they are indestructible beasts that RUN.

I've got one more but can't seem to part with any of them. Keeping an A2 LNIB and a couple of A1's, one configured with an LMG upper and KNS spade grip and another with a finicky Ares MCR that finally runs well albeit I screwed up by not fully reading the manual... Ares come with a SERIOUS manual...they aren't kidding. It's not plug and play.

Anyway, with 41P on the horizon I don't want/need any more of them but don't think I'll sell at just about any price.

I wonder if there will reach a point where the number of people who won't sell at any price will exceed those who will. Maybe it has already happened. I got my US Prop DOE M16 at a steal about two years ago. I have 5 MGs and have only ever *considered* parting with my SWD M11/Nine. Even those things are getting stupid prices now - probably going to keep it for a long time.

No. I got it locally from a guy who died and his children brought it in on consignment. I have never been able to determine where it exactly came from but I do know it did NOT come from the Idaho deal as I have seen those Forms/serial numbers. It is rack number 56 FWIW.

The gun was acquired in Maryland but I don't know if it came out of a MD DOE facility. Can't find good info on this group of US prop guns.

The DOE boys normally have some pretty high speed gear. Worked with a couple guys out of the germantown site.

Here is what I think I see in the marketplace for various categories of full auto M16/AR15s, priced from highest to lowest. I am interested in knowing if you think anything is out of order. In addition, whether or not the order is correct, do you bekieve that the market improperly overvalues/undervalues some categories relative to the rest?

1.Colt factory M16A2 Carbines and Commandos.
2.Colt factory M16A2 Rifles marked auto.
3.Colt factory M16A2 Rifles marked burst.
4.Colt factory M16A1 rare variations (e.g., models 621, 633, 635, 639).
5.AR15 with registered drop in auto sear (RDIAS)
6.Colt factory M16A1 standard rifles.
7.Colt factory M16 standard rifles
8.Colt full auto factory AR15 (e.g., models 613 or 614)
9.Group Industries Stainless Steel 16A1 receivers
10.Colt semiauto AR15 (small pin) conversion
11.Sendra AR15 receivers converted by Bushmaster (BFI).
12.Sendras converted by other folks.
13.Colt SP1 large pin upper conversion
14.PAWS forged receiver AR15 conversion
15.Oly, Frankfort, other forged receiver AR15 conversion
16.Essential Arms cast receiver AR15 conversion
17.AR15 with registered lightening link (RLL)
18.Reweld M16

I my opinion, I would disagree, with the order. The factory U.S. prop. Colts (in general) can largely be grouped to collectors and investors, aside from the shooter who has the money and "must" have one. Not to say that the collector or investor would not shoot them, but again the price tag will most likely dictate the amount of use. Further I would be more apt to spend my money on a quality reweld before I would spend money on a RDIAS married to a lower. Also generally speaking, you can group non-Colts, forged and cast RR's by Mfgr. exception being Group SS RR which approx 100 were made. Prices will follow suit.

Anybody that doesn't buy a MAC right now is crazy. It's the only thing affordable with parts, options, and conversions available.

I'm trying but can't seem to find any under $5k. I guess that's just the new price for them. I just need a M11/9. :cry
