Any advise on removing the factory compensator? I have blown several fins out of mine. I have a junk barrel with a perfect comp on it and want to swap it out. They appear to be staked in the thread area. Any advice is appreciated. Also I saw a newer replacement advertised at one time but can't find any info on them now.

Replacement Reising Muzzle Compensators

They are still listed on their website
I bought one of the Bull Creek comps but haven’t installed it yet. It came with removal instructions, which amount to carefully drilling out the dimple and then the comp should unscrew.

I was planning to drill and tap a set screw in the new comp so I can secure it while shooting, but easily remove it to screw on a suppressor (that’s the plan anyway).

Be aware, it is unlikely for any replacement comp to be aligned correctly, whether an original or aftermarket. I read somewhere the comps were installed on the barrels first and the then the vents were cut in them. So it is usually necessary to shorten the rear of the comp (ideally on a lathe) until it clocks to the correct position.
