Here is one I’ve been looking to add to my collection for a while now and it proved pretty difficult to find. I don’t think a whole lot of these still exist. Many of you may be familiar with the later much more common SWD version of this case. It was often advertised as a “street sweeper case” throughout the early 90s. This is the original version, made by RPB. It was initially marketed as an UZI/smg/carbine case. I believe these were made from 1981-1982, and then in 1983 SWD Sold off the remaining inventory of round patched RPB cases and began making their version with the “Cobray” patch. The RPB bags and cases were of significantly higher quality than the same exact items sold by SWD. SWD cheaped out and started using nylon cordura for everything and in my experience a lot of the old SWD cases have a tendency to dry rot and literally disintegrate over time. The RPB stuff was made of heavy 8oz cotton duck (black/OD green) or a waterproof durable woven nylon material (camo). This bag is made from the heavyweight cotton duck material. This is one of only two of these cases that I’ve seen in the wild, the other was for sale with an M10 smg. I paid way too much for this, but it was worth it to me, this case was a necessity for me to continue to complete my early RPB accessories collection, it’s also the perfect period correct case for the RPB M10 SAC #10 from 1978/79.
These cases were copies of the USGI surplus M60 barrel bags. It seems as though RPB was originally selling the USGI surplus barrel bags, and then decided to make their own version.

Here is an ad from a 1984 SWD catalog (note use of “COBRAY” instead of “INGRAM”) most of the early SWD ads were just recycled older RPB catalog pictures, this ad shows an actual USGI M60 barrel bag with a round RPB era patch on it. It can be distinguished by the different sized pockets and the tassels on the zippers. I assume this is what they were selling before they decided to produce their own version of it.

I also have a matching SWAT case that has the same exact two tone black/navy fabric and brass zipper pulls, probably made right along side it around the same time period.

Very happy to finally add this to my collection, but I have to admit that the chase is often more fun than the catch when it comes to the old MAC stuff!
