Greetings all... long time member and took a hiatus for a while... I recently stumbled across this lucky bundle of RPB open bolt MAC's (9&45) in an estate sale. so now my question is... where do I get buffers for them as they appear to be original. From what I understand they were purchased new and pretty much sat in a safe for many many years....now I would like to bring them back to the light of day and let the breath some fire :)

Looks pretty straignht forward to install new buffers...will they need springs do you think?

What parts are the most vulnerable to the parrels of sitting stagnant for LONG periods of time. The internals appear to be pretty clean and can't imagine they saw much use if any at all.

There is a camo manual in the bag but it says its for the RPB FULL AUTO guns (from Cobray) but these are def not full auto...just open bolt (pre 82)... so I assume he picked that up along the way somewhere and dropped it into the bag

Thanks!!!!

Thanks gentlemen !! I appreciate the info Been out of the MAC game for so long....I gotta say I was shocked to feel how HEAVY the 9mm was as the one I had way back in the day was the M-11 9mm Kind a forgot how heavy the Open Bolt models were lol

I don't remember the emblem being so "orange" on the bag, thought it was a bit more yellow but maybe I am used to it fading lol

I made the mistake of saying...oh now that I have these I will just grab a few mags now too... WELL DAMN they have gotten $$ .... so there goes that idea :)

@theduke Well that's good news.. ya I got super lucky...one of those dumb luck days...!!!

@rchaisch well that makes more sense then... no wonder I hadn't seen them before and only the black pistol bags were the ones I had seen before !! Ya I think the orange patch looks really cool, was excited it was so clean and unfaded.

Anyone else notice no serial number on the 45? Did RPB make a run of them with the serial numbers in a different spot? Good finds none the less!

The 45 is an 81-000014xx the 9mm is 947xx Good point, ya the serial number on the 9mm is just a tad lower on the received than the 45 I figured maybe cause it was a bit of a "newer model" as opposed to the "81" 45 version maybe mid to later 80's? Not sure tho... but after searching forum it appears cause it's open bolt and stamped SAP then it too is only made from 81-82 or 3??

I believe the 9mm would be the older one of the two. as they only started putting 81-82 later in production. They were never made in 83 as they were classified illegal to make by then. The 45 would have been made in 1981 as the 81 stands for the year of production. The 9mm I think would be late 1979 to 1980s not 100% sure.

The camo manual came with the semi auto guns. They only made one manual (they changed the cover design a handful of times but the manual basically stayed the same) they included it with all of the guns. It is a reprint of the original MAC manual, it has an extra page added towards the back of the book with a note regarding the semi autos. It came with both brown and green camo covers.
If it’s a copy that says “Cobray” under the logo on the cover (manual on the left) then it has a catalog of accessories in the back of the manual. If it doesn’t say “Cobray” under the logo on the cover, then it won’t have the accessories displayed in the back of the manual.

the SN doesn’t appear to be visible in the photo on the 45 at all. Is it lightly struck?
ETA: I can just barely see it if i zoom in real close. It’s in the normal location, they moved the number around a bit but it was always at the front right side of the receiver, sometimes towards the top edge of the frame, sometimes towards the middle, sometimes towards the bottom edge.

Green bag is cool, not an extremely rare accessory, but they don’t pop up everyday and they are very cool and collectible. orange patch is not extremely rare either, a lot of the bags had the orange patches (most had yellow). It is a small size Ingram “field bag” or “carry-all” they didn’t come with the guns and it was purchased aftermarket from RPB.

They came in OD green, black, brown frog skin camo and green frog skin camo. I have never seen an example of the green camo field bag, they are extremely rare but they did exist. I’ve got green camo pouches, swat cases and everything else… but the field bag in green camo is a rare one.

OD green is the most common color for the RPB “carry-all” or “field bag”

the later examples made by SWD only came in black and have a different patch that says “Cobray” under the logo. The early RPB stuff has the round patch with no “Cobray”

THANK you very much for the info!!!! VERY much appreciated...excellent excellent! I will pull out the manual tonight and see which version it is, I am guessing its the cobray reprint but either way it's a cool item and glad it's original to the gun ...or the gun of this era

No problem. They are both original RPB manuals, just different copies of the same manual, the one that says “Cobray” under the logo is much less common, it came out right before they closed their doors in 1981. if yours is green camo then it likely is the one that doesn’t say “Cobray” on the cover and doesn’t have the catalog in the back. If it’s brown camo, they all say Cobray and have the catalog.
