RPD or RPK?

Looking at one or the other here, and cant make up my mind on what to go with. Always wanted my own beltfed, But *think* I could be happy with a mag fed. Both are 7.62x39, the RPD is made by wiselite and the rpk is a romanian AES. Loading the links might be a PITA, but so is hi-cap drums. What would you go with?

If it is your checking account that is buying the gun, I say go with the one with the highest "cool factor" and that would be the belt fed.

-edit. I don't know what kind of problems might wait for you in one of those things. I have never fired one, just been next to one on a firing line and I felt pretty jealous.

I have both & most of the guys who shot them at UT7 seemed to like the RPD 9 too 1 over the RPK.

Both of mine are Post Dealer sample machine guns so loading magazines & belts can be a pain in the ass, but I actually prefer loading belts.
I think its easier to load the belts.

I've never fired a semi auto RPD but the belt factor is pretty cool.

I had to vote neither, sorry. I had an RPK which was awsome, but it didnt feel right being semi auto when it was set up to be full auto (ie. heavy barrel, heating coils, thick hand guards...) I never had an RPD but the belt fed is still really cool! However if its not full auto, whats the point?

Try to buy just a RPK belt, no one will sell one or a dozen - you have buy them one at a time at $50.00 a pop.

I have an RPK...it was my first AK build. I'd love to have an RPD even if it's semi. The RPD will carry more value in the long run due to how few of them there are compared to the RPK's.
