I received my parts order from Navgunner yesterday.

Those recoil spring guide rods are solid. I don't think I'll ever need to replace them.

I also invested in an FNC bolt. Might need that someday. :D

Great job, Navgunner.

Thanks for undertaking this project.

A couple of comments from the peanut gallery - Have you considered making your one-piece trigger bar wider (except for clearance cuts in the area of the selector)? The added width in the area where the trigger bar interacts with the sear may help to reduce wear on the trigger bar. Additionally, the wider trigger bar may help to make the trigger pull more consistent. Just a couple of thoughts.

Man, those look awesome.

I've often wondered why Smith & Wesson made the trigger bar the weakest link in the chain, especially when you consider the men these guns were designed for (Special Operations). In addition to being the first part to fail, it's also the most inaccessible. I think the sear would have been the best part to be the weakest link. It's at least easy to get to. I bet S&W never thought these guns would be sold for $12k+ on the civilian market.

Awesome! I'm happy to see some hope on the horizon so far as getting these difficult to find parts!

$73.44 to LE, the list price was (coincidentally) $76.00 (ad published in the '76 book)3-37.jpgs&w model 76 cover lores.jpg

Do the extractor springs ever wear out? Anybody know the size or do you just try to match the old spring if you need to replace?

I could not find an exact replacement. The closest I found was to buy a length of music wire compression spring stock from W.B. Jones company, then cut it to length and grind the ends flat. It comes in 11" lengths, so you should have plenty, even allowing for pieces that fly across the garage while you are cutting or grinding.

I believe their website is springfast.com and the closest matching spring stock is their Part No. 631.

Navgunner's kit certainly sounds easier and more consistent than the try-to-make-your-own approach I had to take a couple of years ago. Thanks for providing your 76/760 parts to the community.

What kind of metal are those trigger bars made out of?
Also the problem is that my trigger is riveted in and I can’t replace it. My trigger bar is probably going bad to.
Time frame when these will be available?

I’m considering selling mk to a younger man at my range. If parts become more available, it might make the guns worth more cash.

The OEM trigger bars are uber soft steel (on the Rockwell B scale). I’m changing up the metallurgy for my one-piece version.

If everything goes well, I should have sears and trigger bars available in a month or so.

Yes, the riveting is a hurdle. I may offer an installation service.

That would be awesome.

That $^*(%$* rivet is the bane of a 76/760 owner's existence. The only thing keeping mine in place is the uncertainty of being able to find a pin that will replace it and not cause function issues. :D

For sure. I figure a new trigger bar, sear, and bolt will easily add $1,500 (or more) of value to the 76 or 760.

Thank you.

Can you substitute the rivet for something I can easily do?
