Hey all! Ive been looking at uzi parts/kits and have a few questions that i havnt been able to find definive answers for. Ive put together a few ARs and have even gone through the LONG SBR process and am currently awaiting my suppressor stamp. Im not new to firearms at all. Just new to this uzi kit stuff. Keep in mind i havnt bought a single part yet. So far all ive been able to find out for sure is that open bolt semis are still illegal. Ive watched a few builds on youtube and it doesnt look hard at all. So heres a couple questions #1 ive seen some original closed bolt FA/SA striker fired bolts, can i buy and use one of them without modification and still be legal? #2 if i can use the the original striker fired SA/FA bolt can i just weld in a blocking bar in the trigger pack so it wont go into FA or use a SA sear ive seen for sale?

You may want to post this over on the UZI Section. Are you talking full size or mini build?
As you mention, open bolt semi's are illegal. I haven't seen the bolt you are talking about(original closed bolt FA/SA striker fired bolts, that just sounds like a SA bolt to me) for full-size, maybe a link would help. My understanding is that even with a new production semi auto bolt, you must weld out the FA setting in the grip stick as a semi bolt/striker could still burst off a couple of rounds when in FA setting with nothing catching the striker. It is an easy mod to do even with just a washer spot welded in the center. Whatever you use, make sure the weld block isn't too tall as a block too tall can block a semi auto sear from being drawn down all the way reliably.

Remember if you are building a new full size Uzi, the upper receiver must have the blocking bar installed. You can use a FA Closed bolt, but you will have to cut a slot in the right side to clear the blocking bar. Some people believe the FA bolt feeds more reliably than the SA bolt, but I don't have any experience with the semis to have an opinion.

To be clear here, I am referring to a full auto closed bolt that uses a striker. DO NOT CUT A SLOT in a full auto open bolt. If you do, you have just created an unregistered machinegun.

I have the bolt you are talking about in mine. It's simply a semi bolt with the bottom lip intact. They are also used for full auto closed bolt setups. As long as you have the FA setting locked out by welding a nub or washer on your lower you are good to go. THIS is like what you're talking about.

That is the exact bolt i was speaking of. So i would need that bolt a parts kit and a receiver repair section? I would just have to disable the FA option on the selector? Would be really cool to SBR it but i waited almost 9months for my last sbr stamp.
