Long time stalker, first time poster. Greeting from Ft Campbell, KY!

After several years and thousands of rounds of eating almost everything my SABRE has started experiencing failures to eject. My assumption is that it is either an extractor or an ejector problem or a combination of both.

I've never removed the bolt and before I start I'd just like to confirm I'm on the right track. I assume I punch out the three pins (highlighted red), tap the firingpin block/sear block out the bottom of the carrier, then pull the gas tube (both highlighted green) out and proceed with bolt assembly removal as with any AR15? Thanks!

The two haves of the S.A.B.R.E. are held together by, I think I remember, nine Allen head screws. That is how I have pulled my bolt group from my S.A.B.R.E. for maintenance.

Not the bolt group, the actual bolt from the carrier. Getting the bolt group out is as you described but removing the bolt from the carrier is something a little different than a regular AR15 process.

I don't think you need to remove the top two pins or the gas piston/ charging handle. Start by removing the pin that holds the sear catch in and remove the sear catch. Then remove the cotter pin that holds the firing pin in place and remove the firing pin. Rotate the cam pin 45 degrees and see if it will lift out and clear the gas piston and charging handle assemble. I think it will. Then just slide the bolt out of the carrier.

I'll give it a try. Thanks!

You were absolutely correct. Just from eyeballing it I didn't think there would be clearance to get the cam pin out but there was...barely. But it's out.

After years of shooting that is one nasty bolt 😬!

Good deal, BTW those 2 top pins hold the gas piston loosely to the charging handle. To remove the charging handle you must push out those 2 top pins and slide the gas piston out. Underneath the gas piston is a single tiny cap screw which holds the charging handle to the bolt.

Good to know. Hopefully I never have to take it down beyond what I've already done though. It's nice that we can find experts to help with these questions.
