VegasSMG and Nwcid,

Very nice looking guns! How do thos shark brakes work?

Capt.,

I'm putting together a group buy for conversion parts on Saiga-12.com. May want to check it out. I plan to send my gun to another well known converter who will do the basic converion and refinish for me. May not be quite a TROMIX, but it will be in the ballpark.

Jake,

I don't know if they're effective, but you can feel the gas from each shot pushed back in your face. Not a bad thing mind you. I assume from that it's doing something for the recoil and muzzle flip. It's worth the money just for the shock and awe factor and it's edges are so sharp and pointed it can easily double as a bayonet... REALLY! The wife thought it would be a dandy pineapple coring devise. :silly

Oh, and Jake IS a member.

Do they make them for pump guns? I am very impressed with the Knoxx Spec Ops stock for the pumps. i would put a shark bite on my wifes 590 if available. It would probibly be cheaper than an M9 bayonet. :silly

I did not know about these or payed no attention till today and bought one home and threw it in the closet. I was going to order a drum mag and leave it as it is. But some neat setups there.

With the have to have it now attitude, I went with the Saiga RAK 12 Assault Shotgun. Not quite the Tromix, but I think I'll be happy with it.

Dave, I just ordered one of the Red Jacket conversions also (from Atlantic Firearms). I went with the MP 12 rather than the RAK 12. Blaine is saying 4-6 week wait for them. They do essentially the same conversion as Tromix and in fact get some parts from Tony - like the shark bite muzzle break. Style-wise they do a few things different. They use an HK style forearm instead of the Galil forearm. They also use the ACE folding stock instead of Tony's folder. I like the looks of Tony's folder better but with the occasional breakage problems they've had with it, the metal ACE folder might be an advantage. The ACE will also fold to either side. Red Jacket also put a Duracoat finish on the gun instead of leaving the original Saiga finish.

I haven't seen one in person but I will in 4-6 weeks. I'll bring it to the UT shoot for anyone that wants a first hand look. For now I'm leaving the 19" barrel on it but might SBS it some day.

Dave; A couple of things you should know. The ACE folder has always been an option on Tony's guns. Many people just like the looks of the side folder that Richard Lage makes for Tony. BTW, it's since been reinforced and the breakage we witnessed shouldn't be an issue anymore. Don't think that I didn't agonize over my stock selection prior to my purchase after what I saw last year in Texas. :abused

If you take a look at my gun you'll notice the TROMIX name engraved on the receiver AND the pin holes that have been welded up and ground flush. It should be obvious that Tromix also refinishes his guns prior to shipping. The stock Saiga finish is pretty thin IMHO.

Congrats Dave, glad to see this post didn't only get my money! :) I went through the website and all of the conversions look pretty cool in my opinion. The features seemed comparable and I wanted to buy it before I put this money toward something useful like my son's college education. So I set up the RAK -12, I may also SBS in the future, although my other postings say I won't due to cheap factor. :silly

You're 'gonna LOVE it! Even though I bouight my gun several months prior to sending it off for the conversion, I never shot it. I just couldn't get exceited about it's looks. After I received it, I can't begin to tell you how much I've enjoyed shooting it. Just blasting junk with it has been fun and EVERYONE who sees/shoots it absolutely loves the Tromix. It's currently one of my favorite guns!

Like a spoiled child, I grow tired of my toys and sell them after a while and put that money towards something else that catches my eye. I know myself well enough and felt that I'd sell the Tromix Saiga one day. I felt the title one Saiga would be easier to dispose of than the NFA SBS version. Maybe they'll be declared non sporting DDs and I won't have to pay the two hundred dollar tax!

Anyway, having said that and after reading Jeff Zimba's recent artcile on the velocity and accuracy after chopping down shotgun barrelss, I'm questioning my decesion to not go SBS. They look bad ass and over all performance doesn't suffer as many people, myself included, thought.
