Unless you like Combat zones.....

I think what Mike is trying to say.... the Hotels near the fairgrounds are in the midst of "gang" terrority... you get your seedy hotels with porn on every channel... the rooms are cheap... security is lax. You have to be a real bad ass on a budget to cope.

I personally have no troubles starting gang wars and terrorizing a few illegals and I am staying at the La Quinta on Thomas Rd. I have found this acceptable as there is a firestation next door with EMT's :halo

I spoke to the owner of Sun Devil and he will be at the SAR Show. The only NFA items he sells are SBRs. He told me he will not be raising his prices on any of his items. His prices will be the same as they have been for the last year.

I'm from the area and if you start your war, the people will sure give you one. Sounds like you need to find something better to do.

Roger Wilco, RD...it wouldn't hurt for all of us to meet (for those who are at SAR that evening) at Richard Lage's tables in the main 'fun' hall at 5:30PM, for example, so you can get an updated list of who's eating and so I can see what you guys (other than the rakishly handsome Bob T and ominously formidable AZ Doug) look like and whether I'll need to come up with an explanation in a hurry as to why my daughter's sick or the dog's dying or some other lame excuse to back out. I'll be the old, bald, fat, ugly guy wearing my new stylish UZITALK black t-shirt (thanks for the shipment). I hope there's some differentiation here because a table of old bald fat ugly guys would be off-putting...

My bad...the show closes at 5:00PM on Saturday so maybe 4:30PM at the Lage display?

Great seeing you guys at the show and at dinner last night. Got to meet yzfchet and Ben Dover in person and they are two top notch guys. I caught up with SAR regulars like prebans, Z06, cookie, azatty and Bob T. Always good to see them. Jmacken had to fly out before dinner, AZ Doug had a work conflict and Richard Lage had other dinner commitments but good to visit with some of them at the show.

Same here, Pete. Thanks for the margarita! Now I know that if I ever have any firearm related question I'll ask Mike a.k.a. PreBans first - what an encyclopaediac mind! And for such a young whippersnapper, too! I'm just sorry I didn't have the opportunity to buy drinks or something for Cookie and Dave...maybe because I'm too cheap. We really appreciate what you fellows have done for the Title II community as a whole, not just the Uzi crowd. :clap :clap :clap

The SAR show itself is probably going to go down as a disappointment from the vendors perspective - a lot of looky-looing and not as much cash changing hands. The rest of the Crossroads of the West gun show taking part in other areas of the Veterans Coliseum complex was a not unexpected but nonetheless disappointing experience from the buyers perspective in most spots. I saw so many simple cleaning supplies, piece parts, accessories, and firearms with asking prices 1.5X to 4X the normal retail price, never mind a wholesale price, that I spent only 15 minutes or so in areas where I would usually spend whole afternoons. Sad to see.

I saw fewer people walking around with wrapped-up, just purchased rifles than at any previous gun show. I guess the economy is truly in the toilet and it's hitting everyone everwhere.

One bright spot worth noting is the Model One Sales display in the SAR building had everything that one would normally expect to see, and the prices were pre-election!!! That was the only vendor who got my money and I was happy to give it to them. They didn't even charge tax! When everyone else had dry pens from all the marking up they were doing Model One Sales was staying true to their customer base. They are worth supporting. :thumbs_up

I have to disagree with you yzfchet I spoke with a lot of vendors who said they had a great show...The prices at the SAR show were inflated as usual but if you were serious about buying I am sure a deal could be made. AR's and related items were overpriced ($200 for a lower)...DPMS had AR's for $799 which did not seem too out of line. Sure they had the usual gun show crowd and vendors but for the most part I thought it was a good show with exceptional attendance. I was there both SAT and SUN.

I thought the show was fantastic!I had a chance to talk with Richard Lage,Rover Dave ,Prebans,Mr-m79 Randall Shivak,Mike Otte of Michaels machines, etc.

I got to do some HK parts trading with Adam Webber.I was able to pick up a almost new c&s uzi drum at a great price.Found a metal am180 drum with winder for a great price.

I did miss the Vector table.I did not see too many Machine Guns being sold though.I walked so much my hips hurt.If you have never been to this show you are missing out.

Different vendors, different stories I guess...two of the Title II vendors I talked to had a total of two gun sales each by close-of-business Saturday and one guy had sold exactly one MG for Friday and Saturday. Maybe Sunday was good for them.

The prices in the SAR building were better than the prices I saw in the other halls. Century Arms were asking higher-than-usual for their inventory but I didn't try to bargain so I can't say if I could have gotten a deal or not. Arsenal Inc. is always high at the show so that's no measure, I guess. DPMS always sells a snotload - I didn't look at their prices but I wouldn't expect them to be outrageous. The guy selling stripped Colt lowers for $399.00? I didn't see anyone crowding that table.

Perceptions of the same event are different with different people. The show was big and neat to experience. I hope it was a success from the majority of the vendors viewpoints - they're the guys keeping these things going. Travel/shipping costs and the cost of tables isn't peanuts.

I also want to see what Jmacken thinks of that oddball 5.56x45mm Australian assault rifle he bought. It was truly unique looking - sort of an unholy offspring from a marriage of an AR15 and an HK53. I would have bought it if he hadn't. At least it's still in the 'family'...that's the sort of thing I go to the shows for; the unique firearm for a great deal that makes you feel smug and excited inside as you walk it to your car.
