Got my full size Uzi yesterday and was at the range today. I will never be the same!! Fantastic!!
500 rounds thru and one FTF. The mags stick on the catch and are difficult to remove. Other than that -SUPER.

I'd like to find one of the straight topped wood stocks at only a slightly inflated price if anyone knows or has one.

Does the 25rd mag that came w/ the smg... stick?

...or are you using 40rd mags?

Are they ALL hard to remove?

Stymie,
The 25 rnd does not stick-it has no tool marks. The ones I used were IMI and SA marked. The 32 rnd on the group buy also stick.

That sounds more like a problem with the lower or the mag catch. Look for burs on the mag catch. Also, just to be sure it isn't just a "heavy" spring issue, remove the mag catch spring and try it without the spring to see if there's any sticking. Karl.

I just received my mini vector yesterday and had the same problem. I have to push up on the mag before it will release. I haven't called vector about it but was going to post a message about this. I wonder if there is some problem with the latest receivers. BTW, it is not a problem with the spring, it is definitely in the mag catch - it appears that the catch may be too deep. Anyone have any ideas????

Really doubt the receiver has anything to do with it. Take the lower off and try fitting the mags in it.

Could just be a heavy spring. Still sounds like that to me. Try with the lower off like MuzzleFlash said. If it's a heavy mag spring causing binding, that will tell right there. Karl.

I took the entire gun apart to check what was binding it up! The problem is that you can not press down fully on the mag release. It will only go about half way then it stops. No amount of reasonable force will make it go farther. At that point, you need to push up hard on the mag, then the mag release will snap and release the mag. I have a semi-auto uzi mini that I have used in the past that has never given me this problem. I checked the mags between them and the semi-uzi always releases the mags fine. All the mags I tried in the Vector bindup the same way. I think the problem is in the mag release hook, it is too deep or something. I can't seem to get my fingers in there to feel if there is any type of problem...... Maybe after using it for a while it will loosen itself up?!?!?!

mag slot variations...

tomtom...

The mag catch pawl should theoretically engage the mag slot... mid-way in the opening with some allowance for vertical & downward play. All mags should fall within this range. It appears to me that the catch is NOT fully engaging this slot for the most part & that the pawl on the catch should be bent downward, but not so far as to interfere w/ the operation of the 25rd Lyttleton (unmarked) mag... that doesn't drag!

I believe that the pawl is partially engaging the upper limit of the mag slot.

I fiddled with it and it seems that the distance between the mag catch/hole in the mag and the bottom of the lower seems to be too great. The 40 rnd mags release OK as the tear drops don"t hit the bottom of the lower.
I also noticed the Vector mag wells are not flared like the IMI ones.

tomtom, congrats on getting your Uzi. I can understand your excitement.

I had the same mag catch problem with my Vector Mini. I needed to send the gun into Vector for a semi ramp installation so I let them mess with the mag catch. It works perfectly now. Maybe Mike can give us a hint on what he did.

Stymie had the correct fix. The pawl would hang up on the top of the hole in the mag. Took the pawl out and tapped a few times to bend it down- perfect!
Thanks Stymie.

Hi All,
Tapping will work fine to fix this problem. I, however, usually polish the upper part of the catch "lip" that engages the mag slot. You can either use some sand paper or scotch-brite. If you have a bench top belt sander even better. Just be carefull not to take off too much.

Mike,
It was off about a 32nd or a little less. Probabaly would have taken a LOT of polishing. LOL.
Thanks,
Tom
