I don't use theirs but I've uploaded my files (stl) made in MoI to Shapeways without problem.

Moment of Inspiration (MoI) is a very user friendly and easy to learn tool yet can be used to make very complex objects. You can download it free for 30 days and to unlock it forever I think I paid around $250 but it's well worth it.

Here's an introduction video with more out there by this guy and another named Chipp Walters

Try the emachineshop software that talks to shapeways. I had an installation problem and I couldn't get connected to shapeways, but the said they fixed it. I made a surefire scout mount for the max11k in about twenty minutes that I was going 3D print for fit and then send off to get made in aluminum by them. I found it really easy to work with with no prior 3D experience
