Cool to find an FNC forum. Search did not reveal similar questions. I installed an AAC 9/16x24 LH adapter made for 7.62 caliber projectiles. I attached an AAC 7.62 SDN-6 suppressor which really does very little to quiet this gun. I understand that a suppressor does noting to quiet supersonic ammo down range but this same silencer works much better on a standard A/R. Is this what you would expect? We try to run most firearms silenced to minimize the sound going to the neighbors.

Thanks in advance,
Henryrifle

You may wish to speak with Todd at TBA Suppressors. He installs suppressors on FNCs.

Thanks--I know there will be some additional noise but this was loud. I'll try it with a dedicated .223 silencer and see if there is a difference. I think I am learning that FNs in general are loud. The SCARs with their muzzle brakes are definitely loud!

I run a Surefire 556 mini on my FNC. I also have a FA HK416 and I run that with a full sized Surefire 556. I really can't tell a difference in sound between the two maybe your AR is built some way that I don't know of. The only thing I notice is the gas levels, the FNC basically farts in your face. While the 416 doesn't as bad. This is because of the design of the bolt and carrier. If you've ever shot a suppressed AK you'd know what I'm on about.

Chilli17- +1 on loudness of FAL's with suppressors, I can confirm they are loud as hell.

Nice vids, maybe your FAL is hearing safe but mine is not. Not with an 11" barrel anyways.

I will be picking up my FNC this week and I hope that the original flashider is NATO size so I can try my Halo suppressor on it.

Gemtech claims it will.

What types of flash hiders/brakes will the HALO fit?

The HALO is designed to fit any NATO Standard flash hider/brake. This includes the USGI A1 and A2 birdcage flash hiders, as well as the M249 SAW, HK, FN FNC, and others. It will also fit the Primary Weapons SM556 brake, VLTOR VC1 flash hider, and new for 2010, the Smith Vortex flash hider. HALOs made prior to 2010 (Serial number will start with an "S09-" or earlier date code.) will NOT fit the Vortex style flash hiders, but will fit the PWS FSC556 compensator. Newer HALOs with "S10-" prefixes on, should fit the SM556, but not the earlier PWS FSC.

Thanks. I have a number of Gemtech cans and I never thought to check the FAQ section.

Just to post a quick follow-up, I had a chance to shoot the gun with a .223 silencer on it, an AAC M2000. It was much quieter in semi and full. When I get a chance, I'd still like to do a back to back comparison to get a better sense of the difference.

Sorry to Necro-post the heck out of this, but I can provide a little bit of insight.

Have 2 FNCs, one Howco with Short Para FH, One Steyr Secaucus/ GSI with Standard FH.

When I got my Gentech HALO back in '08 I tried it on both, since I figured the FHs had to be the NATO Stnd. 22mm to launch rifle grenades.
It did fit both, however, on the Shorter FH I got a nasty lil baffle strike.

Since then, the longer FH is the only gun I feel comfortable mounting it on.
Never had issues on that one.
