Hello all

Just picked up this one and was wondering about the back story on these

It's a chinese SKS (imported by I.O. INC. out of NC)

It has the flat bayonet and ZERO markings on it other than the serial number. The serial number matches bolt (x2) trigger guard, mag, stock, dust cover etc...the gas tube and gas piston and stencil pen'd to that number as well....the bolt looks amazingly clean, and the barrel is like new...mirror clean...recoil spring has clump of cosmo on it too...so lucky there no doubt

Serial number is 148,xxx so def in the supposed Ghost-Gun range

Anything to look out for in particular on there...anything different from regular type 56 SKS?

Might have over paid but was cool I thought cause of the no markings....$400...not worried tho...I am happy with it so just curious if this Ghost-Gun thing is real lol and I kind a doubt its too rare of the made like 210,000+ of them??

The whole “ghost gun” thing with the Chinese SKS Type 56 gets thrown around a lot, but it’s mostly a collector nickname rather than anything officially recognized. Generally it refers to early production rifles with little to no factory markings, often just a serial.

Your serial range does fall into what people usually call that group, but like you said, they’re not exactly rare in the grand scheme. They were likely early factory runs before full marking conventions were standardized, or possibly arsenal variations.

Functionally, they’re the same as any other Type 56. If everything matches and the bore is clean, that’s the real win. Just check the firing pin moves freely and you’re good.
