As most of you are aware, there are a bunch of china aimpoint clones out there.

There are three levels of clones

1. outright fake and aimpoint marked ones

2. other un-marked ones

3. aimpoint clones that are receiving rave reviews and marketed and sold by good and honest companies as inexpensive sights.

I wish to address the 3rd.
I bought a M4 clone from primary Arms.
It had page after page of good reviews on many sites like ar15.com

What a POS.
It was $89. and a total POS.
I couldnt see the dot in bright daylight. It comes with a neat feature of four recitals and they were incorrectly canted 2-4deg off center. The scope cap was faulty.
There were major reflections caused by light from both the rear and front of the sight.

Stay away from these sights as I found that they are a POS.

I've had very good results with my S.P.O.T. Fakepoint red dot. It's been used on my M4gery, DPMS LR-308, Lage Max11, and currently resides on my Spikes Tactical 22rf upper.

I use this gun to shoot 12" x 18" steel at 200 yards. If I do my part, its dead on accurate.

But to be fair, I'm more an EOTech guy, and have little experience with other Fakepoints. I'd never buy any of the BSA etc red dots.

I have a Primary Arms micro dot (Aimpoint T-1 clone) and am very happy with it. Maybe you got a bad one?...I bought a $500 Leupold scope which had to go back to the factory twice before leupold just sent me a brand new one.

I have 4 of the M4 clones from Primary Arms...they are all great. I sent one back to him originally (can't remember what the issue was) and he replaced it with no questions asked. I had 3 or 4 of the M3 style ones from him prior to getting the M4 ones and they were great as well.

You got a lemon, this happens.

No, no lemon.

Its just that I know the quality of a real M4 and it makes me realize what the clone is lacking.

Add one more level of brightness (8) and fix the retical cant which is on most of these and better lens coating for reflections and I would have no complaints.

The first thing I looked for in these was the brightness, because I have had other budget reddots and they fade in the bright light. I tested this one for brightness on a very sunny day against lots of ND snow and they have all been fine. They don't all have the retical cant.....

I had an older Aimpoint and many EOTechs, and these aren't going to be the same....and I wouldn't really expect them to be. I don't trust my life to them, and I have BUIS on all my guns that have any reddot on.....but they are worth what they cost....I my opinion....as long as they don't have the troubles yours does.

I would bet you could trade yours in for a replacement that doesn't have the cant.....and maybe it would even be a little brighter, maybe the cant issue is responsible for it not being as bright as it should be...maybe something is partially covered.

Do what you will, but they aren't all bad.

My vortex "clones" (strikefire & sparc) have been awesome.
Held zero forever - even after lots of F/A fire.

I think it all depends on the clone company you buy from. Plus you may have gotten a lemon. Primary Arms gets alot of great reviews for it's sights, mounts and AK acessories. It's conceivable that budget QC lets the occasoinal lemon through.

Just for the record, I stopped fooling with arfcom several years ago when all these young tactical SHTF extreme (or maybe it's spelled X-treme now) Zombie hunting teenagers tried to learn how to read a damn chart.

The maturity level here make this a much better site.

But thanks for the warning. I bought an airsoft AA eotech a while back and noticed the same things you have. If you shoot at night or at an indoor range, it might work better. But outside in the "real world" they're not much count.
