Hi,

Anyone that shoots steel cased ammo in their Galil rifles?

I have allways used Sellier & Bellot 55gr FMJ in my FFV but since steel cased Barnaul 55gr FMJ is half the price here in Sweden I was thinking of trying it.

I have other .223 rifles also, couple of AR15 and a Steyr AUG, and in those guns I'll stay with brass cases but the FFV is basically an AK so steel cases should be OK....or??

I only use russian steel cased ammo. It is a dirty ammo and possibly corrosive.

Steel case runs fine in every AK-type rifle I've ever fired..including Valmets & Galil. Works without a hitch in my Uzi too...
surprisingly...my old Romanian & Bulgarian AKs are the most accurate with Wolf Classic!

If you use corrosive ammo - just take a bottle of Windex (or a little ammonia in a spray bottle) to the range with you. After you are done shooting for the day, spray the barrel, chamber & mag-well liberally with the Windex (the ammonia in it stops the corrosive action). When you get home, just clean it up with soap & water, & oil it. You won't have any problems with it as long as you clean it immediately.

Ok, thanks for the answers. I'll buy a crate of Barnaul .223 ammo and try it.

It's new production, zink plated cases and non-corrosive.

I use corrosive Tula ammo in my VZ.58 so I know the cleaning routine.

Thanks for the help.
