I believe Lanchester was the first US importer of the Sterlings, I guess the first one was kept in England as a historical piece. I have a Lanchester SA Sterling under 300 S/N , I'm curious if anyone has a sterling from another importer and do the serial numbers continue from the Lanchester or start over at 00001 ?
Also noted that one seems to have the dunny barrel inserted with a 10 inch barrel not installed, but no 16 inch barrel visable.

I have S/N 022, imported by Cassi of Colorado. Despite the low S/N, and pitiful few numbers of Dagenham guns imported, I've had little interest during the time I had it for sale. Everyone wants PolyTech Legends.

Glad for the pics posted, brings back memories of the one I seen for sale at a fun-show in the 80's. Couldn't give 'em away back then either, as they competed price-wise with Uzis and HK94s.

I snagged mine barely used during Klinton's 1st term, but missing the odd-shaped styro-lined box and display bbl. These guns are so kewl.

NFAFAN : I guess you answered a question I have been trying to get answered. Number 1 was imported by Lanchester in texas and I have under 300 imported by Lanchester in Texas , you have number 22 imported by Cassi in Colorado. That would say that each importer gets a new set of serial numbers. Curious thou Number 1 starts with S/N SA0001 and mine starts with S/N SA02XX both imported by Lanchester in Texas. I have a pistol imported by Armscorp in Maryland with S/N AA7000X. Is your serial number SA00XX or maybe CA00XX ?

Here is the old ad I had here in the classifieds... I'd bet they were not in any kind of order in terms of the way that Dagenham shipped them out to wholesalers.

It looks like all the carbines were SAXXXXX and they just shipped them to importers as they received orders. I guess now I'll have to do more looking to find about the pistol serial numbering, mine starts with 7AAXXXXX and came in thru Armscorp of America in Silver Springs,Md
