I picked up one of the new AUGs recently and thought I'd share a pic. I'm really pleased with it, runs great and is a lot of fun to shoot. Here its got Troy tritium sights but I've since added an Aimpoint M2, Surefire scout light, and a Wilderness Giles sling.

I don't know much about them but I just spent the weekend studying them. Mostly good info, no real bad points.

Very cool. I had a black police (16" bbl.) AUG 15 years ago. The most fun was borrowing my friends FA trigger pack and doing a whole lotta mag dumps. Still one of my favorite machine guns.

Nice gun Rover! I'd suggest a trigger tamer to help the AUG. They're cheap, easy to install, and worth every penny.

Like this one? ;)
Black 16" by serial number with a Flemming trigger pack installed. You still need the full auto sear trip on the back of a semi auto bolt to function, and without the anti bounce pins and springs insalled inside the rods, there's a chance of an OOB when using a semi auto host gun. Just saying.

You are correct. The AUG is the smothest shooting full auto rifle I've ever owned or shot.

Yup, that's the one.

I don't know what was changed out in my SA AUG-P, but it worked flawlessly for over 600 rounds. I was so pumped that when he was packing up to go I grabbed the barrel to dis-assemble my gun to remove his parts... I drove for 4 hours with my right hand in a bucket of ice!

NOTE: I had the green 20" SA first and shot quite a few prairie dogs in MT with it. You can see the sling swivel stud on the back side of the folding VFG, that's where I attached the Harris bi-pod. Also a 6x24 Leupold scope coupled with a very effective muzzle brake helped me harvest those prairie poodles!

Thought I would add a pic of my newest AUG. Same as the last, which I stupidly got rid of, but this one has an Acog on it which I love as it doesn't tear up my knuckles as the other optics I had did. Its kinda tricky finding the right optics for these, can't use everything out there, but when you do they are a blast.

I like the profile of your setup.

Which model Acog? ..and if you had to do over, what would you do differently?

Have you tried that Acog on a Microtech aug to see whether the slight height variation (between the two aug models) caused problems?

~thanks!

Can't remember which model Acog but its the 4x with the green arrow reticle.

This pretty much is a do-over from my last setup which just didn't work for me. I tried irons/Eotech and then a US Optics SN4. The Eotech was totally wrong for the AUG, way too wide and you'd bang your knuckles and couldn't lock the bolt back with the charging handle.

The SN4 was awesome but too much scope for the gun. Made it VERY heavy for a .223.

The cheek weld is perfect for me with the Acog/AUG. I havn't tried it on the Microtech but I've handled one and I think it would be fine with the Microtech especially for people with larger builds.

The A3 is a good weapon. I had one but gave it to one of my kids. I still have my 16" police model I purchased 20 years ago or so. I can hit with that rifle better than any of my other sub caliber carbines..

I bought a registered Aug hammer pak back 2 decades ago, $800, LOL :) and fired it in the green A1 back in the day. Was remarkable the control it had in FA, my being able to place most of the 42 rounds in a 55 gallon drum at 30-50 yards?, in one burst. Sold it in 1993 before the surge in MG prices :( who knew?

Hey Rover.. I picked up a pre-owned ACOG similar to yours last night.. hoping to try it out on an A3 & stg556 later this week!

There's a new old-stock tan Steyr Aug stock like $350 came up today. Also, a complete 9mm kit.. big bucks $2100.

The stock is different, but then I'd need a tan Acog :)

Yea that FAMAS caught my eye too. I didn't think anybody in the US could get one. Whats the story behind it?

That famas is sweet. Very very rare and when they come up they pull in top dollar. I'd love to be sitting on one of them.
