I had been following the conversations/threads here on Subgun24's .22lr conversion kit for the S&W 76 and MK-760. I was really encouraged by all the positive reviews and particularly comments from Kickstand. I decided to get a kit and 3 extra magazines, for a total of 6 magazines for my S&W 76 1,9XX serial range. I am very fortunate because Mr. Subgun24 himself lives a short drive from me. He also shoots at a monthly match that I participate in so I often seen him there. He was gracious enough to meet me at a local range yesterday (12/18/25) and helped me set up the kit in my gun, discussed various spring lengths, the break-in procedure, and basically be an all-around awesome guy.

We did minimal shooting then, and today I went to another range in the area where myself and my daughter really gave the kit a good workout. We put about 1,000 rounds of CCI-Mini mags through it. After about 2 or 3 jams while breaking in the magazines, the remaining 997 rounds were flawless. This, in my experience with .22 kits, is incredible. I did no fiddling/tweaking or anything. It was just shoot and shoot without issue. The ejection was very positive and consistent. We pretty much were shooting short bursts of 2 to 5 or so rounds, but did larger strings as well with no issue. We used all 6 magazines during this trip to the range. I did not try shooting semi-auto today, though we ran into issues yesterday while setting up the kit shooting in semi for whatever reason. Perhaps we hadn't done enough of a break in session. Today my daughter and I could easily get 2-shot bursts but pulling singles with the selector set to full auto will require a bit more trigger time for me to master.

The only issue we ran into was leading in the last quarter of the barrel toward the muzzle. I have gotten my Uzi .22 lr conversion kit barrel leaded after the barrel gets a bit hot, and it can be a chore to remove the lead. Using elbow grease and a sturdy cleaning rod I got all the fouling out.

In my opinion, this kit is a must have for S&W 76/MK-760 owners. If you are on the fence about it, I would strongly encourage you to get one. I rarely shot my 76 previously because it had a high cyclic rate, I couldn't hit squat with it, and it beat up the end cap shooting in 9mm. With this .22 kit that has changed. I likely will have to get a red dot mount to dial things in regarding accuracy. We did not really "put it on paper," rather shooting clumps of grass on the berm and the like. Obviously when the barrel got leaded, the accuracy went out the window.

I have attached some pictures of the kit as I was cleaning things this evening. Really looks nice. Looking forward to shooting it more.

I should add, Subgun24 provided multiple recoil springs. I was using the "break in" spring, which was the longest of them.

This post genuinely made my day! It’s hard to imagine anyone who owns an S&W M76 or MK-760 not wanting this 22 conversion kit. Considering what’s included, the overall quality, and even the presentation, it’s a great value and really bring the platform into something special. The 76/760 ain’t a one tricky pony anymore. His optics rails is awesome too.
The craftsmanship is impressive, and everything is designed and well executed. It’s clear that a lot of care went into making this 22 kit. Moreover, it performs better than intended. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, this is the nicest 22 kit I’ve ever seen.

SubGun24 (Todd) is a great guy too. He’s been consistently responsive, helpful, and knowledgeable whenever I’ve had questions, and it’s obvious he stands behind his work. He also offers several other awesome products that are worth checking out. Website below:

Overall, this is a well-designed, high-quality kit from someone who clearly cares about his customers and products.
Guys, get one!

Same for the Swedish K variant. As soon as it's available, I'm in!

All I can do is endorse the above comments, this kit is incredible! I've had .22 conversions for my M-16, the Atchison kit, which performed pretty well, and the LM-7 upper which when dialed in was a hoot but was sometimes finicky, as any belt fed 22 is likely to be. This thing just RUNS! I'm waiting now for his threaded barrel, and gonna load up with more mags and a few other goodies on his website. Can't say enough good things about Todd and his work! The attached video is my 10 yr old grandson shooting on Thanksgiving, all four that came along had a literal blast.

I went to the range again today to do some more testing / familiarization with Subgun24's .22lr S&W 76 / MK-760 kit. I started off shooting the S&W 76 with the selector set to semi-auto, and there was pretty much flawless function. My magazines were loaded to 30 rounds (as opposed to capacity of 40), and occasionally the first pull of the trigger on a full mag resulted in two shots fired. Perfect function on semi-auto for the remainder of the magazine. After a few mags of this I did more shooting mainly in full-auto, where function again was flawless.

I used CCI Mini-Mags and the longer "break in" recoil spring that comes with the kit. I tried one of the shorter springs and there were immediate failures. The shorter spring had enough "oomph" to strip a round off the magazine and into the chamber, but not enough "oomph" to detonate the primer.

I also tried some Federal in a 325-round bulk pack. The kit did not like the Federal ammo.

Back to CCI Mini-Mags and the kit kept chugging along with incredible reliability. A total of 700 rounds fired of CCI Mini-Mag with no jams.

More kudos to Subgun24. Hope this might be useful to folks who are considering one of the kits.

Good man.
I think Todd (SubGun24) will be releasing a threaded K barrel too. He’s got a great optic mount too.

FYI, NavGunner has recently came out with an integral suppressor, updated internals and a bolt should be coming out for the S&W 76 / MK-760 too.

It’s a great time to own one of these guns. They’ve needed some love for a long time.

Wow, I missed the integral, been checking his website every few days but that one got past me. Great work, I'll be a customer once I get my 2026 finances in order.

Yes, I am waiting for availability on the parts, will stock up.

Got a T prefix gun waiting on paperwork.
Nice, I have one too. Only 123 made and about half went to the Navy for Seal use in Vietnam.

I put another 700 rounds of CCI Mini Mag through my kit today with ZERO jams, using a total of 7 different magazines. Shooting semi and full auto. This kit and the magazines are more reliable than my 10/22. Really incredible. Kit has 3,000 rounds on it now. Buy one if you can!

Has anyone tried the new '76 22 kits suppressed with subsonic ammo?

The threaded barrels were just released (I’m not sure if anyone has gotten one yet). I purchased one but haven’t got it. Once I get it, I’ll post a video using a couple different brands of ammo. I’ve got some supper suppressed stuff, that I’m going to try too.
