Most 147 grain ammo is flat-nosed. What ammo runs reliably suppressed full auto? PMC Bronze seems to be one of the few round noses out there. Also any comments about the suggested ammo in general? Going to buy 1000 rounds. Thanks.

If you can get one of Barrel Exchange’s barrels it will limit feeding issues (because he throats the chamber).

For supers, I took Richard Hoffman‘s advice on running sellier&ballot’s 115g and it works very well.

Don't know about the 147 but the PMC 115RN that I just purchased was VERY underpowered. Wouldn't run in my UZI or M16 9mm and the UZI eats anything. I sold it to a buddy to shoot out of his pistols. From now on I'm going to buy a box of whatever I am considering buying and shoot it before I buy by the case.

Hope this helps.

My full size UZI's run flat nose fine using my IMI barrels but my UZI's have the semi feed ramp installed.
On my Mini UZI, it also has the semi feed ramp installed but only the BarrelXchange barrel would feed the FN shown in the picture below:
Mini_BarrelXchange_barrel.jpg

The rounds pictured in the mag I re-loaded are Federal 147Gr projectiles from American Reloading that I loaded to 1.130" COL.

I was surprised to see how short the Federal 147GR AE9FP is. I haven't bothered to try it in my UZI's though.

I reload 99% of the time for 9mm. However, if I got weak ammo for cheap, I would make it work in the UZI if I had to. I remember back like 15+ years ago, Bass Pro had a sale on the yellow box Remington UMC for $5 for a box of 50 115Gr and I loaded up a shopping cart to the max. It was so weak, I would have runaways in the UZI, so I just cut the spring down to be weaker and it ran fine. Burned up that ammo for cheap blasting and saved the brass for reloading.

This is exactly what the PMC 115 I just purchased was doing in the UZI. In the M16 9mm it wouldn't clear the ejection port before it picked up the next round. Switched to S&B and all is right in my world now.

In the m16, the PMC, when it would clear, dribbled out. With the S&B it throws them 6' at 3 o'clock. Huge difference.

My UZI will run that Federal FMJ flat point 147 with an SMG ramp. Still have 3-4k of it.
I now load most 147 with Berry's plated bullets.

I used to run Berry's 147 JRN exclusively for at least 5 years till I got a few batches that were undersized. I was paying extra for their DS - Double Struck bullets too. They were like .354 and they are supposed to be .356 since they are plated. They wouldn't do anything for me. So that pissed me off and I never bought from them again.
I only noticed that they were undersized as I was having accuracy issues in certain barrels. I know for certain that one of the barrels was my polygonal rifled IMI Mini barrels didn't like them while some other UZI barrels they were fine. I did more testing and found that jacketed was just more accurate across all my 9mm guns so decided to just skip on plated bullets.

Back then I switched to Precision Delta JRN (NOT plated) which was cheaper than the Berry's back then.

Today, I've been just buying jacketed 'blems' from American Reloading. Most of the time, I don't see any marks on the blems.

I just got a bunch of these 155GR JRN and they have been great. Great price and I'm amazed they still have any in stock.

46.74 delivered for 500 is hard to beat.

Probably because 155 is an oddball weight and most people don't want to deal with something different.

PPU 158gr. Still are round nose as of my last delivery, and they run quiet and reliable with a AWC MK9

I believe Fiocci went to a flat nosed projectile but not sure.

freedom munitions has some round nose 147's that have ran good in the past. Haven't bought any in a while though. They also have a HUSH line for suppressed fire, but I have not tried them. They are a 165gr. round nose at 800 FPS.

Detroit ammunition had a similar heavy 9mm round running slow. No experience with their ammo though.

I coincidentally shot some on Saturday:

It was also too weak to cycle my unboosted Beretta.

When buying 115 or 124 grn loaded ammunition look at the manufacturers specs. Not all are loaded the same. PMC and CCI blazer brass are on the low end of the MV/ME spectrum. That’s fine for a modern 9mm pistol but not the UZI. That’s why I almost exclusively buy S&B ammo, it most always on the hotter end. There are a few others, but the price for S&B it is usually one of the lower priced loaded available. One day I will reload, just not yet.

Fiocchi makes a 147 FMJ that is a round nose and it feed perfectly in my Uzi.
I've used this one too, with good results. I have a Jericho suppressor and the combination works like a charm. With these subsonics it is hearing-safe and a gas to shoot.

If you reload get the 124g FMJ bullet and make a sub round that runs in everything thats what I do with power pistol powder. Check out my other posts about the load data

I reload 115gr for subs. It’s worked in everything I’ve tried, with OR without a can. This is what I’ve done for about two years now, without any issues too.

Video below.

I shoot Fiocchi 158gr subs out of my Group/Vector full-size SMG and have never had an issue. The bullets are of a traditional ogive shape, not flat nose.

^ Recipe?

Attempt this at your own risk!
-Powder, Win 231 4.1gr (not exactly sure of charge, I’ll check, next time I reload).
-Bullets, cheapest plated but good quality 115gr RN bullets you can find (buy them on Black Friday).
-OAL, around 1.125ish.
-Crimp, very little, damn near none (really important) but make sure you’ve got enough to prevent bullet setback.
-Primers, cheapest non-corrosive pistol you’ve got. I reloaded some a week ago and was using some South American primer’s (not sure of their name but I’ll check). I’ve used CCI’s too and they’re still subs (the video I posted was with CCI primers).
-Brass, range pickup.
-Be careful of to light of a powder charge because the gun could run away and slam fire. This is less of a concern when using a can because it creates extra back pressure but you still need to be cautious as it can happen. You could always clip a coil from the recoil spring and try again, if that happens but I have NOT needed to do that yet, in the guns I’ve shot. I will say after watching Slo-Mo, my Sten WITHOUT a can, is really close to slam firing.***

*Good luck and attempt at your own risk as this was my experiment. I can’t justify or afford buying factory subs and that’s why I attempted this with some good success too. Please read over a good and current reloading manual too, which I’m sure you all have.*
