I'm helping my girlfriend's dad (FFL and gunsmith) get rid of her passed husband's gun stuff.

We found a Cobray marked SWD suppressor for M10 45Cal. It's used but when the wipe at the end looks in good shape. She hasn't found the host yet so we have no idea what he was doing with it. She said she has some paperwork with stamps in them that her lawyer probably has right now. Estate lawyer, not NFA. I recommended a good local NFA guy to talk to too.

I told her if she can find paperwork and we can figure out how to transfer it I would be interested for my M10/45. My interest in it is just that it is iconic. Already run a SiCo hybrid on my M10.

What would be a fair price to offer?

1) I threaded the part of the barrel in front of the pipe threads and made a sleeve to cover the pipe threads and give me a shoulder for the hybrid to seat on. OE threads are intact. Just hidden. With everything in place and the thread protectors it just looks like I have a crazy 1"+ OD pig nose on it.

2) Selling for or listing for? For $1k I'll buy another hybrid or a couple more cases of ammo. IMHO, far too much for an old can.

I think $200 would be fair.

I had Bowers recore mine and like it on the 45 bullet hose.

It’s classic.

I listed my PS mac 10/45 with an original 2-stage can two years ago, someone offered me $900.00 for the can itself, unfortunately (for me) by that time the MAC and suppressor had an "I'll take it" and was considered sold.

I think my M10 had a can with it but the gun shop that consigned it told the widow to just scrap all the the suppressors and they basically refuse to deal with used cans.

Hmm, seeing anywhere from $200 to $1k.

Saxon, if we find the paperwork and I don't buy it I plan to help her get it to a trustworthy NFA FFL for transfer and I can let you know where it ends up.

900-1200

The days of these being sold for 200 + tax & transfer are done.
Somewhere along the lines of 2010 and present they became collectable.

I paid 300 NIB for my two stage M10 sionics can in 2010 was 700 all in due to being a two stamp can.
A viper was 695 at the time but I wanted the OEM can I had offers back then from 75 ( dented tube ) to the 300 NIB can I purchased.

I placed a WTB on the old Strum when buddy was free ( just buy lunch) and had several offers on them in just 2 days.

Also the 45 AARP SWD can is the rarest of the two stages somewhere around 250 made/produced I think.

Kramer will be along to tell the exact # made since he did the research on them.

May pull more out of it being a 45 AARP SWD can just due to the rarity.

Food for thought,
I paid $500 (02/2022) for a New In Box two stage Powder Springs can and it came with the matching box.

This was from a friend and I could’ve got it cheaper but I figured that was a fair price and it would bad on my part to offer him any less. Honestly, I had no idea they were firing for $1K though.

This one is a higher SN than 250 so that 250 number is likely false unless they didn't start at #1.

What is a 2 stamp can? Suppressor is only one stamp. I assume 2 stamp purchase with SBR or MG plus can?

IMHO, that's worth way more than this SWD can. I think my M10 had a matching number can that my LGS told them to destroy because it wasn't worth anything. That manager makes some really stupid decisions on NFA, IMHO.

I'm going to talk to the local SOT here that I trust too.

He means two stage not two stamp.

No I mean two stamp it was a out of state F4
200 transfer to my dealer then 200 tax again to me.

I paid 400 in tax for a 300 NIB can.
My box was missing that info like kicKstand is showing .
Mine is also a Marrietta GA. can not a powder springs can.

Like I said i might be off on the exact numbers ( sounds like I am) but there are some articles on these 2 stage cans and the amount made by each company with the SWD 45 can having the lowest number of production.

When MAC went out of business they surrendered hundreds of new cans to ATF for destruction, in the 1970s few people were willing to pay a $200 tax for them.

Isn't that still a single stamp item as it was stamped to your dealer (not a Form3?) And then you have a single stamp to you.

Either way, a PS can is dang cool, especially with box.

If you find a link on more info on these cans, please post it up. I'm very curious even if I don't buy it.

Should hear in a week or so if she finds the paperwork.

Individual to licensee is still a form 4 and $200. I have a 2 stamp can that was “free” as long as I paid both stamps.

Two stamp transfers hurt less in the AOW world!

I understand you paid for 2 stamps but only one goes to you. What you are saying is like me calling my M10 a 2 stamp gun because it has had at least 2 stamps with it's SN. It's a single stamp gun though.

No
But I see your point.

He had too pay twice and wait twice...for a single stamp.

As too your can.

Back in the day...most guys would give them with gun just to have it gone.
Value was 200...cost of stamp...lots passed on it...I didn't.

I like others , did not notice the "rareity" factor that happened in the last few years.
I know the 380 cans were high way back when but there were way less produced is My Theory.
Today is a whole new game with these....5-9...seems like the market.

I got my SWD Sionics type Silencer back in 1989 along with a PS M10/45. I have put a lot of rounds through it since then. Cost me $140 in 1989. Here is a video of my Son Tony shooting it at the range with our Jersey Arms Works Commando Avenger M10/45 clone. I have a nomex cover I put on it in the 90’s. This video will give you an idea of how it works with a good set of wipes.
