Not to bust balls - but it’s been a week and I want to see this unicorn.

You and me both. But until the Beta tester sends us the video, there is not much I can do. To be clear, if the FightLite MCR/Ares Defense Shrike wasn't owned by Geoffrey Herring, I would have owned one a long time ago. He is the sort of businessman I don't wish to support.

I still don't understand why folks didn't just pop the pins out and run 5.56

There might very have been some that did. Colt made a small run of 100 9mm subguns just before the ban. As far as I know those 100 factory 9mm subguns would be some of the rarest transferable M16 RR machineguns in the registry. Most of them went to Police Departments and got beaten up. I would think one very good condition would be worth at least $35,000. So pounding on the roll pins holding the two piece magwell adapter doesn't seem like a good idea to me

Just for those that don't know, the original price was advertised as $2,500 before it came to market. There was a $1,000 deposit to get that price. It took ten years before he actually started shipping. Everyone who asked for his deposit back got it. After the ten years the original price was honored. Once the original depositors orders were filed the retail price was $4,995.00.

I'm not a FightLite fanboy...but, some facts.

Geoff made mistakes that those who have come after are the beneficiary of that experience. He took deposits...and then took waaay too long perfecting his built from the ground up belt-fed upper. His perfectionist mentality in design of the upper, to setting up a production line to make them, only exacerbated the delays, as was not being able to source a key component he originally counted on...the M249 SAW feed tray. With Gulf War 2 and Geoff not having a supply contract with his connection...FNMI was not going to divert a strategic part of one of their gun systems to a civilian project and possible future competitor.

While there may have been a few who didn't get their upper for 10yrs after Geoff starting taking deposits...Shrikes starting shipping at a little under 5yrs after Geoff starting taking deposits. Still unacceptable, but not not unheard of in the arms industry, especially for the development from the ground up of a belt-fed adaptation for the M16/AR15. I'm sure Geoff would have rather been selling uppers.

Like a lot of internet dramas...at the time this thing took on a life of its own. What was curious to me...it seemed like almost all the vocal complainers and hell raisers were ones who never placed a deposit. It seems there's still those without 1st hand experience with the upper or the company, posting negative and/or wrong information. Those who were dissatisfied with the wait, got their money back without exception. Those who waited were rewarded with a well-designed and well executed piece of mil-spec kit.

Geoff has continued the improvement program for the Shrike and today's upper is clearly superior to those first released in 2005 (IIRC). I've had (4) uppers and each of them worked and performed as advertised.

Street price for for the latest gen full auto upper is ~$3.5 to 4k depending on options...and worth every penny IMO.

Good information, I know there are alternatives out there and Shrike was not at the top of my list anyway. I’d be happy with any Mac based belt fed functionality!

Bah. 9mm beats on a lower harder than 5.56 anyway.

It’s better that way so it can soak up more water! Keeps it fresher longer

which raises the question, should I use the .458 SOCOM to cut the tree down quickly or the .22LR so I can do more mag dumps while "hunting" my Christmas tree?

Any update on seeing this unicorn run? Picked up fightlite mcr060 upper from Brownells when they had their 11% off anything promocode in anticipation of this adaptor. Hope I didn't jump the gun.

Sorry but I don't know what to say. My limited understanding is that a belt fed needs more spring pressure to strip rounds from the belt and chamber them and a heavy buffer. At least that is what the Valkyrie Armaments system that I use with my DIAS. The buffering system that we are using has both of those. I hope that we will get some video soon. Much as I would like to, I cannot make someone do what I ask, when I ask them.

Understood. I was more wondering if they got it running and you were waiting on a video to post an update, or they were having issues, or life got in the way and it's still on the Todo list.

I think the excitement of running any ar15 upper got to me and caused me to purchase the mcr upper without proof it will work. Now that I got it, Im wondering if it will. Not your problem of course.:50_cal:heavy

IMHO, I certainly think that it will run with the Tenko adapter. As far as I know, the Beta tester just hasn't gotten around to it. More than the actual knowledge, I just find it very frustrating. I wish there were something more I could do. Spending four grand for a belt fed upper is not currently in our R&D budget. I am sorry for the delay.

Scott,

I think we all just appreciate how transparent you are and how willing to engage with the community as you get through the process of bringing this to market. Hang in there, it's a long road but I'm sure worth it. We're all just overexcited about the prospects. It's an exciting time to own a Mac. :)

Merry Christmas everyone!

Rob
