I'm not to worried about.
Pretty sure these guys have done their due research like Lage did with his upper.

Also sure there will be a bunch of poo poo letter writers mad and asking for clarifacation.

Just how it is.
Haters gonna hate and are probaly scared their M16s won't be worth 30k when they wake up in the morning.

But for the guys that own the M-10 this is great it will allow us very very modular system now.

I have no fear of this being pulled once released due to the names involved.
The inventor, distributor, and beta testors are very well aware of other pit falls involved with this.

Ok, I've finally made it thru my inbox. If you emailed me and didn't get a repsone, let me know. We have a wait list for the Tenco 10/16 for the M10, the Tenco 11/16 for the M11/9 and even the Tenco 380 (which is on the way, way, way, back burner.) If you want to join any/all of these wait lists, please email: tina@macmachineguns.com

Thx...t

I 2nd this. Keep up the great work! The level of innovation here is incredible. Even inspiring beyond the fact of just how cool it is. This is the greatest news any M10 owner could get.

How does a 9mm or 45 acp upper work? How would the mag fit into the lower(adapter)? What mags would they run off?

Speaking as an engineer and the owner of two SABRE's (.223 & 7.62x39), it's my opinion that the Tenco adaptor is a brilliant design and has a great future with many other opportunities open to it, so obtaining a patent makes a lot of sense.
As previously mentioned, the ATF have blessed a prototype already but because of some minor changes made it's only awaiting a final nod of approval.
Definitely a game changer.

I hate to be "that guy" but I'm seeing some pretty scary parallels to the BRP XMG here.

The BRP is an MG34 "upper" that uses a complete AR15/M16 lower as a clip-on FCG. BATFE ultimately ruled that it's OK to use one with a semi-auto lower, and with a post-sample M16 lower, but that using one with a transferable M16 lower (or DIAS/LL as applicable, presumably), meant that you were illegally converting the MG34 upper into a post-86 MG.

With this, it sounds like it works in a very similar manner, except that it's the AR15 that's being bolted to a different MG.

Frankly, I would not be surprised to see BATFE pull the rug out from under this. As a result, I would be extremely hesitant to spend several thousand dollars on one of these.

Caveat emptor.
Welcome to the forum! I sincerely hope you didn’t sign up today to create unjustified doubt by attempting to draw parallels from a prior BATF BRP ruling that bears zero similarities to the Tenco.

While the BRP XMG-34 looks like an upper and requires a lower to fire, it is NOT an upper, it’s a title one firearm.
Brian Polling asked for and received approval from BATF for the XMG-34 to be classified as a title one firearm. According to BATF, combining a title one firearm, (the BRP XMG-34), with a title two title firearm, (an M-16), creates a new, unregistered machinegun, (the BRP XMG-34).

Unlike the XMG-34, the Tenco is not a firearm, it’s an adapter that acts as interface between the registered M-10 lower and the unregulated AR upper receiver. None of the parts used to create the Tenco are regulated. Not one!

I’m fortunate to have handled and shot the BRP XMG-34 in its native 8mm while mated to a RR M-16 prior to BATF dropping the ban hammer on converting an XMG to full auto by combining it with a full auto lower. Additionally, I was one of the Tenco beta testers who put over ten thousand rounds down range over a two week period. I’ve got experience with the two systems.

The 9mm conversion will use the same magwell inserts and magazines as any other AR-15 pistol caliber gun. The AR style magwell prevents the use of .45 caliber mags.

Again, any upper that fits and functions with your AR-15/M-16 will fit and function with the Tenco adapter.

Well with a factory 45 upper a Lage max 10/31 9mm upper and a flemming 22 upper that's all covered.

8'll be sticking to the rifle cals. And possibly some belt fed stuff.

For those who shoot the Knob Creek Nationals, you can still use your M-10 in whatever open bolt configuration you chose, and now you’ll be able to compete in the closed bolt class using a single gun. Pretty sweet!

The biggest difference between the Tenco adapter and the XMG is that the XMG "upper" did not tie in the the "mechanism" i.e. the recoil spring to the AR lower reciever. It is my understanding from day one, that because of the structure for the recoil spring going around the AR receiver the XMG "upper" was determined to be a Title I firearm. All XMG "uppers" were transferred via 4473. So a Title I firearm (the XMG "upper") + a RR machinegun (a M16) is one too many firearms firing more than one round per pull of the trigger.

To this point the Tenco adapter determination from FATD is that it is not a firearm. All fire control is mounted in the firearm (the M10 RR) and the mechanism (the recoil spring) pushes on the inside of the firearm (a similar location of the recoil spring in the original design). Because the Tenco adapter has no fire control with a closed bolt system and merely guides but does not retain the mechanism (the recoil spring), the Tenco adapter cannot be a firearm according to the BATF&E definition.

The only thing I want more than pics right now is Richard Lage’s (unadulterated) thoughts on this and its design, and to know if he thought of doing something similar before prototyping the 11/15.

I saw 45 references in the original post by Scott. I was curious how. I have a rmw xtreme DI 45 upperamd lower that shoots off grease gun mags. Would love for that to work but would have to be enough material on the adapter to make it work for both. Ron sells a lower that can take both

Olympic Arms has 17 round 45acp mags that fit the AR magwell.

...or a SUB-TEK 45 upper for the grease gun mags. :)

Why would you put Richard on the spot like that? I have the utmost respect for what Richard has accomplished, products that he sells, and how he conducts his business. I strive to have our customer service close to what Richard has done day in and day out for as long as he has been in business. Why would you want to draw him into a discussion of someone else's product? There would be downside for him.

I have received some very kind words about our product. As far as I am concerned, our product is different than what Richard is offering. I think both the Max-11/15 and the Tenco 10-16 are great products. I personally am on the Max-11A1/15 list, because I think it is a great product. I wish Richard great success.

While I'd be interested to hear Richard's thoughts, it would be poor form, and likely devolve to a bunch of us fighting back and forth.
