Here's a very nice specimen: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/581398235

Note early grey Colt Anodizing, proper markings, A1 barrel and A1 rear sight.

I think this is an original specimen, but the box and papers are obviously compliments of Mr. Colt.

Probably a model 711 dating to 84 or 85. Note SN is 80000XY.

711 is auto marked. This is burst. Could be a 711 upper on a standard a2 gun. Nothing special here.

correct.....$100,000,000 is nothing to them....they will print it and buy back your FA....or make it illegal to pass on.......at least my kids will get the same enjoyment from it i have gotten

The .gov loves to give you a "tax credit" vs cash when the confiscate.:devil

i paid $35k for mine and someone before me paid $40k (someone emailed me about his).....Ruben sold one for $40k

the lowest i saw one sell for was $28,500 and i believe that was not advertised as factory new.........since the $28,500 sale i notice they always have a reserve on them

Colt Thompson is extra quality, Colt A2 govt marked is just a marking........more rare than a Colt Thompson, but there is not the quality difference as between a Colt Thompson and a 1942 Thompson

A2 prices will most likely rise again once the pallet drys up

i have my eye on what this one sells for......condition doesnt look so new....lots of wear marks on this one......ive seen them listed as used w/ less wear

I paid less then $28,500 for mine. And it was NIB gov prop marked A2. And the well is not dry. As I said before.

Model 713, I stand corrected

711 is auto marked. This is burst. Could be a 711 upper on a standard a2 gun. Nothing special here.

Could be a 713 then.

But with the color, and assuming it's the original upper, the presence of teardrop FA, A1 profile barrel, and A1 sights and the SN seem to make it an original early A2 variant. Where can you even find an upper like that?

713 has a2 sight, bbl profile, etc.

Lower looks orig. May or may not be unfired by consumer though. Needs a closer look.

They're around... a large number of the transferrable a2 "commandos" being sold were not config. from the factory that way...

It says that it's sold. What was the asking price?

$26,500 for an A2 HBAR with m60 bipod

there needs to be a running thread of colt A1 and A2s with pics and descriptions and prices scrubbed from the listings and annotated with price changes. I think it would be a great thread to keep buyers and sellers informed. The price guides be darned

For comparison, Spiwak has listed for several months an A1 HBAR for $27,000. Probably an unfired Mr Colt gun and I dont think its wildly overpriced. Till this A2 sold.

A2's have dropped to A1 prices for a long time.........many FA's have gone up in value nicely over the past 8 months.....M16's have gone down

i can see 3 to 5 from the same A2 Pallet on GB right now....this wont end until the pallet of A2's is finally gone

the # of known A2's has probably tripled in the past 2 years

The 'Forty One Frenzy' (TM) is over. You may return to your regularly scheduled machine gun pricing strategies and practices.

MHO, YMMV, etc.

He LISTED it for $32K.

Sale price is unknown.

ive attempted to buy one of his Thompsons a while back.....from my experience he is not used to answering questions or sending extra pics or any dealing.....from my experience w/ him ---people just buy them...he didnt really want to spend any time w/ me..said he could get any pics because his camera was bad....was out of town for weeks at a time....i got the idea that he is used to buyers just calling him and saying ''ill take it''...his prices are decent on most guns.....not great, not bad.....i doubt he took $28k for his last one.....im sure if it sat for 6 months he'd bargain down.....guys like him and Ruben have a price and it is what it is.......most FA sellers are this way from my experience....bargaining is not the norm. in the FA market place.....

Spiwak is business partners with Chad O'Connell from Chester County Armory (big secondary source of the recent Kelerchian Kollection) and another fellow. They have a combined inventory. Chad's wealthy father made available to him a very large amount of money to swan dive into the NFA biz, and wrap his arms around these "special" 16's like those bat winged monsters from Beastmaster. They also do a lot of horse trading with Targetmaster.
