That's exactly what I'm talking about doing.
Pull a pin, yank the belt fed top cover, put the magwell top cover on with the UltiMac magwell.....taaadaaa, BreAkMac

Lol glad great minds think alike!!

While I’m spewing off wild ideas I will end with this request.

I have dreamed of a FA 22 that one does not have to load by belt or mag. A hopper fed mechanism similar to case feeder like with some reloading presses. It would be battery powered and one could simply dump a 500rd brick into the hopper on top and turn on the feed mechanism and hold down the trigger! Then your assistant could dump another 500rd brick into the hopper after 1-2min of continuous fire to keep the gun running.

I’m at war with squirrels in my back yard and need this terribly bad.

Neat idea and while possible, it would be a PITA to make it work and keep running.
Keeping cases oriented correctly, dealing with cast lead/waxed boolits, and reliable feeding are the three hurdles I can see off the bat.

1. My intent is to make the upper modular, i.e. accept different top covers and calibers, primarily 7.62x39, 5.56, and 9mm.
It is also designed to take a topcover that employs the use of UltiMac magwells, so in that regard, it's a multi-caliber option.

2. The solid model looks good so far, but until I have one machined and tested, I won't know the exact cost. Way too early in the game to know any of that.

3. Since all the M11 and M11a1 guys have come out of the woodwork looking for an UltiMac, I've pushed the belt fed back to work on those uppers.

To me, this will be the real winner. Whoever comes out with the best belt fed. First to market will be able to charge the highest premiums too. I think a steady supply of a nice belt fed will probably be the next boost in Mac prices.

I’m close to the DFW area and have an M11/9 host if you ever need another host to try stuff out. I’m also an engineer by trade and like these interesting projects.

Thought of an item regarding the M-11 platform. With fairly stout recoil impulse of 7.62x39, do you think there could be or possibly will be an issue with the structural integrity of the back of the receiver? Let’s face it, M-11’s are nowhere near as beefy as the M-10 is. Would hate to see a RR lower get torn up from being beat to death shooting 75 or 100rd drums....thoughts?

TBTH people that own an american 180 and complain about loading mags are funny. Who loads mags at the range? Also loving these pop culture references. Portal 2 and the 3 stoogest in one thread!

If youre using a stock that butts up against the back of the receiver, it shouldn't really matter since the receiver is physically supported. With a factory wire stock, or lage collapsible stock, maybe.

We'll find out if redneck gets me a beta unit and i let some integrelly silenced full auto 450 bushmaster rip.

Any chance of a water cooled UltiMac belt fed? Dump a 500 round belt and then enjoy a hot cup of tea. 😆

I know parts are expensive but would it be possible to adapt the modular mag well to accept HK feed mechanism? The HK is the only beltfed I know of that feeds from the bottom.

Where is the recoil spring? M11/15 IRM system?

From the first post:
The upper uses an internal recoil mechanism, no drilling in the rear (unless you're in to that sort of thing, I don't judge)

Anything is possible with the correct application of money.

Long answer: Yes, if you have lots of money and time.
Short answer: No.

Since the mass of the 7.62x39 AR15 BCG is approximately the same as the 5.56 NATO BCG and the acceleration of the carrier is about the same between the calibers, I don't foresee an issue.
I wouldn't run a real short gas system, or I'd at least run a very good adjustable gas block, regardless of caliber.

The ideal solution is to get away from the anorexic M11 and go with the best mac made, the M10.:)

Unfortunately, the majority of the market doesn’t like this idea lol.

I'm hoping to have a quad mount M10 setup at OFAST 2020, four M10s with ArmTac saw drums should be cool at the night shoot.
Well, cool.....but ridiculous. Which is my goal.

Yeah, yeah. :)
Next you're gonna tell me there's more M11s than M10s in the registry. :jester

Well, with the close proximity of a M11/9, there’s now no excuses not to develop the M11/9 variant at least in parallel :)
