I paid for my Sterling today, now the Form 3/Form 4 wait begins.

I got a Andrewski build on a DLO tube.

My question is, what should I stock up on? Magazines? Spare parts? Parts kits? Ammo?

Congratulations! I enjoy shooting my Mk4 & Mk5. Both are like yours, DLO tubes built by John Andrewski.
Are you having him put the scope posts on it?

These are the good old days. I would buy as many mags as you can afford.

APEX has a good deal on Sterling mags. Ten for $200.

--------

SG AMMO has good deals on 9mm. I often buy from them.

- S&B 9mm 115g at $239 per thousand

- GECO 9mm 124g at $225 per thousand

----

I would buy a spare barrel to set back in case you ever have a squib and ring a barrel
IMA has them for $150.

I bought an entire parts set, vacuum sealed and set it back in case I ever needed an odd part. APEX has them for $154.

IMA has parts sets with a barrel for $350

-------

I put a Burris FastFire II mini-red dot sight on mine. It mounts on the rear scope post. But you have to have John add the posts.

The cool thing is (@least it's cool if you're a Star Wars fan) is that you can turn it into a Storm Trooper pistol quick @easy!

Congrats! the Andrewski Sterlings are top-notch quality guns!!
As for parts, get more mags (Apex) and stock up on ammo. A parts kit might be a good idea, just in case. Mine has always been 100%, runs like a sewing machine and eats everything. Got a couple of parts kits but never needed to replace anything (so I ended up using one of my kits for a MK-V build, still pending). Have fun, you'll enjoy the hell out of it.

Always exciting to read about a new Sterling acquisition. Congrats and good choice. Advice given above looks reliable to me - get mags, ammo and a barrel and maybe optics... One day I hope to add an Andrewski build to my collection. Post pics when you can! You know the drill, without pics it didn't happen ;) Recent transfers for me are taking 3 months or so which is also the good old days.

Okay, I ordered two parts kits, two spare barrels, 20 mags, and an extra sling.

At least I have my M10/45 to keep me entertained while I wait for the ATF.

I just purchased a DLO Sterling off a member here and will be filing the paperwork later this week. I sold my AC556F to fund this purchase but have been wanting a Sterling for a long time...so over the years I have bought two spare parts kits w/original barrels, slings, 60 Sten mags, 70 used and 13 NIW Sterling mags. With the purchase of the Sterling will come more used and NIW Sterling mags as well as other misc. Sterling gear. Can't wait to be shooting it later this year!

IMA also sells an assault pack / bandolier for holding mags. I bought one, never used it.

Did yours come with laces and instructions? If so what laces (number and size) and any chance I can get a copy of the instructions? Mine didn't come with anything (got it from another source when IMA didn't have any) and I haven't found any configuration that is decent.

Instructions needed here as well.

I can't figure it out based on the pictures on the sales page where I bought it.

I did get my magazines yesterday, any tips on disassembling them for cleaning?

All great advice. That Sterling goes great with the UbaTuba granite in your kitchen. :)

My parts kits and replica bayonet were waiting for me when I got home.

it has been nearly a whole week, should I start calling the ATF or my dealer and ask when my stamp will come back?

Spare Parts & IMA magazines

I would definitely get spare springs and plungers that go the trigger housing, easy to loose and bend/break. You can buy them from PS Arms, Paul carries a lot of spare parts for Sterlings, as well as the hard to find front sight adjustment tool.

The IMA magazines are great, but be prepared to clean them and bend magazine lips. I used the Andrewski supplied magazine as a template.

Have fun shooting your Sterling, it is a blast! Be careful about reloading though, the case baloons at the bottom due to the open bolt design.
