The price is on the high side, especially since it has only one mag and no accessories. The .223 folders typically sell for $1,800 - 2,100 on GB in that condition. To contrast, this one is in box with cleaning kit, etc. These are great rifles, but the mag issue is a hindrance for Valmet newbies. It was bad enough when Valmet .223 mags were $125 - 150. Now they routinely sell for $225 - 250 if you can find them.

Don't flame me, but I prefer the stamped M76s to a Galil. As pre-bans, Valmets are a relative bargain for their quality at current trade prices. Unless you already have a stash, it's the mags that will set you back. One more thing, there's not any great solution for mounting optics. Although accuracy with irons will keep you smiling.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of dropping by but I think your points make good too much sense.

Bear in mind I'm not a valmet guy beyond deciding I couldn't afford to stock spare parts and mags deep w/ it when I had narrowed down to that and the Galil... But I have heard that tromix ak mags work well in the .223 valmets: http://www.tromix.com/Valmet_76_frame.htm

Unfortunately, the choice is extremely limited. I appreciate the input such as the info on the Tromix mags. I have purchased a few of their parts for my Saiga 12 and have been pleased with performance but they are certainly pricey. Regardless, I have too many projects that need to be finalized. Thanks Gents.

They seem to make aftermarket mags for just about everything- except Valmets. Great rifles.

As a matter of fact there are aftermarket Valmet magazines available. They were made by LIQ/MCP. However, they are no longer being made and have themselves become quite pricey.

I didn't have much luck with those for some reason and sold them. I just decided to stick with factory Valmet mags, particularly in my select fire.
