Trying to see if there is a correlation between SWD M11/9 and SWD M11A1 (.380) SMG manufacturing years and magazine wells which appear to be tight when using Shockwave Z-Mag, Suomi dual feed, or PAM II magazines. If you have an M11/9 or M11A1 SMG which has had fitment problems with any of the mentioned mags dropping free without sanding or otherwise adjusting the mags, please select the type of SMG and poll year of your TIGHT SMG in the poll.

If your M11/9 or M11A1 SMG has NOT had any tight magazine problems with any or all of the above mentioned after-market magazines, please select the type of SMG and poll year for your NO PROBLEMS SMG.

If you have multiple SWD SMGs please select as many choices as are applicable to you. If you have multiple SMGs of the same year with different TIGHT or NO PROBLEM magwell conditions, please note specifics as a message in the thread.

Thanks for your participation!

PLEASE NOTE: This poll is not applicable for the MAC 10/9 or MAC11 SMGs manufactured by Ingram; only for the Sylvia Williams (or "and Wayne" if you subscribe to alternate history information) Daniel M11/9 or M11A1 SMGs.

I voted "no problem" with my '86 M11/9. I did have one PAM-2 (out of 8 or 10) that was tight. I think it was an issue with that particular mag though, as the rest all go in and out just fine. Also, I just got a 6-pack of the latest Z-mags, and while I haven't had a chance to test fire them yet, they insert and drop out with no issues.

Thank you for starting this thread, yzfchet. It's interesting to me that there are 86 M11/9s with both tight and loose magwells. That echos what I've heard from customers. It just seems to be the luck of the draw with these guns.

Yes, Marty; so far that seems to be the case. The '86 guns are so numerous that any statistical analysis is going to be highly skewed by their data. The sample size is still fractional, though. I'd really like to see at least a couple hundred responses before I begin to come to a conclusion.

The broader trend so far seems to be that most of the pre-86 guns in the sample have tight magwells and most of the '86 guns do not. Again, the sample is too small as yet to extract meaningful data.

Need some help with my vote please. Since I just recently received my 86 M11/9, I only have Zmags. I just inserted the 3 I have into the magwell and I wouldn't call them tight. They seem to fit well and I don't have to exert any unusual pressure toseat them. However, they certainly do not drop free. If I press the mag release and shake the gun, they don't drop/move at all. They do slide right out by hand, so my vote should be "no problem", right?

Only thing I don't like is that the finish is scraped up with just a couple insertion and removals. After the above simple test, my mags don't look pretty any longer :-(

By my judgment yours qualifies as "TIGHT". All mags should drop free when released. The fact that some of the finish has worn off your mags due to friction on insertion/removal indicates a non-ideal fit.

My mags do drop free, but they won't lock in place with the bolt closed and the bolt has "polished" the top of the mags and scored a line in the follower. Still, the best mags for my gun. The stupid zytel mags are a very tight fit.

*edit* I have an 86 M11-9

No fit problems here for an 86 M11/Nine but I do have the polished feedlips after use.

The finished is also worn from insertion.
