When I bought my Reising I was well aware of the comp breaking problem. I went to the trouble of making a comp protector that slid over the comp to prevent this from happening. The protector was previously pictured on this site.
Even with the protector in place the front fin broke off last year.
I saw an add on Subguns for Tom Wilkinsons heavy duty replacement comp and decided to try one.
My biggest problem was removing the original comp. It was on very tight. Even tho I made a special clamp, I still had to destroy it to remove it.
Toms comp is excellent quality and threads on easily, but a lathe is necessary to index it properly. I have a lathe and took small cuts until I got within .030 " of lining up. Then I removed it , applied some blue locktite and torqued it on. Looks excellent and mates with barrel almost perfect.
The color is dark blue. This doesn't match the barrel, so I will remove the finish and dip the comp and front sight area of the barrel in park solution.
If you have a broken comp I strongly recommend the Wilkinsom replacement.
I wish I could post pictures here , but I tried in the past and failed. When I get it reparked I'll post a picture on machinegunboards and you can see it there.

I'd be interested to see that comp and I suspect others here would be, too. I can post the photos for you if you email them to me. I'll PM my email address to you to avoid the heinous spam bots that scour the web all the time.

Cheers,

I just ordered one of these. My compensator hasn't broken yet but I figured I should have one on hand anyway.

I put on a Tom Wilkinson compensator on my S-Series 1957 Reising and the finish was almost a 100% match. The compensator is heavy duty and well made. I indexed mine without a lathe by carefully hand filing on a large file until it lined up correctly. I highly recommend this compensator for your Reising.
