While you were sleeping, last night, an Unfired Galil Sniper, a real one, sold on Gunbroker, for $15,000, in under 10 hours.

I seen it this morning around 2am. Very nice, thought I seen one go for much more a few years ago. I didn't have the coin for this one at this time.

I will be content with my clone when its completed, because I intend to shoot it often.
Don't think I could convince myself to shoot that NIB unit, although tempting.

I'm still looking for Galatz parts for my project build.
offset scope mount, gas block.

The last Galatz I saw on GB was in my neck of the woods in Iowa about 2 years ago. All original also it was around 10K on price. You know I always wonder when someone trys to build value on a gun that is "unfired". Technically all guns are test fired at the factory so how can a gun be really "unfired"? That one always makes me think.

For some collectors the difference between used and unused..can be big. Doesn't make it any less looney though.

"Unfired" is generally accepted as unfired except the factory... Which is generally very few anyways.

I photographed a Galil Sniper this last week in Estonia. Basically, the Estonian purchase price was $3200 back in the day.

Well, back in the day (1989); the price for these in the states was 3,999.00; which threw a lot of people off.

Especially for something that was unknown at the time.

Only 28 made it to the states, with 10 going to the marines in Quantico / 2 going to the secret service at their training facility in Louisiana.

They actually ended up not selling all of them; since the ban kicked in that year.

The Galatz is unfired and pretty much untouched. The original owner bought it directly from R.S.R wholesale back in the 80's a few months before the ban. He bought the only 2 they had in stock at the time and sold the other one a while back. The rifle came with 10 25rd mags 8 of which are N.I.B., a parts kit and some cool 80's literature, a brochure which actually shows the Galatz next to the Hadar 2. When he bought the rifle, the V.P. from Action Arms told him that he had never had a chance to see one and that there was around 50 in the country.

There's no way I would have bought one in '89 for that price, you could still buy great NFA toys for that kind of money. Although I didn't do that either, dammit.

If you can/are willing scan any literature you received and share here, I know that it would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your nearly one of a kind rifle!

Were you the one who purchased the rifle linked above?

I had an idea of who it might be judging by the account name, but he hasn't come forth yet like I thought he would.

Yeah I purchased the rifle, luckily he was only a couple hours away so it worked out great.
