Well, put me in the received a giant POS camp. I bought one used at the Indy 1500 gun show on a whim. Both times I took it to the range, after about a magazine through it, I end up a case stuck in the chamber (the rim gets ripped off the case). This is with steel cased Wolf ammo, which is basically all I shoot through my AR, my HK93, and my FS2000.
After e-mailing back and forth with Jeff a bit, he suggested polishing the chamber (which is my next task). Unfortunately, based on the pictures I sent him, he pointed out that my bolt was butchered by CAI and suggested I get a new one and then re-headspace. So, I'm in the process of hunting down a new bolt (APEX was out and I'm waiting to hear back from Sarco, so if anyone knows of a good supply, please let me know).
Hopefully, there isn't anything else wrong with this thing, as it is already starting to feel like a money pit. I really should have known better, since I've been bit by CAI before. I had a CETME that had salt water corrosion in the lower and had to be replaced and had a Bulgarian AK-74 with a corroded barrel that was so bad that rounds wouldn't chamber properly (the gun was "new" in box). They fixed both guns, but you should still not have to go through that with a gun coming straight from a manufacturer. My current rate of success with CAI guns is 4 out of 7 have been good (but of those 4, almost all were ones that were just imported and didn't need to be built). I really wish there were more companies out there that actually gave a damn about providing interesting semi-auto builds of mil surplus parts kits for an affordable price. Most people are not looking for a $2000 tack driver out of these things (if I want that, I'll get a high end AR and drop another grand on optics). Just a fun plinker for weekend shooting with cheap ammo. TNW has done a few (I have their Suomi K31 semi), but Century seems to dominate that market space, unfortunately.
