Unusual question about Uzi colors

Hello everyone, I'm brand new here and this is my first post. I have a "parts gun" Uzi that has a fair amount of wear and tear on the finish. I was considering recoating the the gun with some kind of Dura-coat or Alumi-Hyde. I'm not concerned about collector value because, as I said, it's a parts gun. I was wondering if Uzi's came in other color schemes other than flat or gloss black. I heard a rumor that there was a kind of "green parkerized" version but I'm certainly not an expert and I don't know if there's any truth to it. I'd like to "spruce" mine up a bit but don't want to turn it into a complete train wreck and make it look like some "tacti-cool" mess. Any suggestions? Pics welcome! Thanks all.

Yep, good ole' uzi green. Black or gray park is also acceptable. Action Arms is black park with a kind of semi gloss black epoxy like paint coating over it. Of course its your gun. So, any color that you like is what you should paint it.

Welcome. The original Uzis manufactured under contract by Fabrique Nationale (FN) in the '60s were painted a dark matte green color...it's almost become a "standard" paint color. If you Google "Uzi Green" you should see lots of examples.

Colors are sometimes difficult to see properly in a web browser, but here's DuraCoat's take on it:

I just did my IMI model B with Dura-Coat in "matte black" finish. The color looks to be perfect to the original and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It's not flat black (which has no sheen) but matte black, and it has a slight sheen. I followed the directions and gave it 3 light coats. It matches the original black IMI mags perfectly. The other finish that looks to be very close is called "Combat Black", it has slightly more sheen but is still not "semi-gloss". I've always been tempted to try one in UZI Green.

Why not try it yourself? It's really not that difficult to do.

Here's my Car-15 that I painted over thirty years ago. I did it before all the modern gun-specific paints were available... just used an airbrush and Humbrol model airplane paint with a topcoat of matte spar varnish. Its held up very well. With the newer stuff you can do even better:

Here's an older thread with a tiger striped Uzi:

There are many good paints available today. I've had great luck with Brownell's Aluma-Hyde II... I've refinished a bunch of parts for various guns with it & I've been very impressed with the stuff.

Have fun...
