I've owned a few sidecocker uppers for my notched barrel M10/45's for quite some time. Yesterday, one of the uppers failed...snapped the lower back section off due to the bolt deforming the upper downward as it ran.
I know I'm likely seeing some egging on the forward lower holes but I can take care of that with tabs. But I don't see the sidecocker uppers in stock any more at USMG. Does anyone still make them?
Can y'all suggest at reputable smith to fix lower (fix my pin holes/weld in new tabs and refinish lower)?
Would have purchase a few more of those uppers, simply because they hold the adapter/ratchet for my Gemtech Vipers so well, if I knew I couldn't buy them in the future.
I own a lot of MG's and SMG's but this is my favorite and I'm stressing about it. Your help is appreciated.

I would contact Sam at Practical Solutions. He has been a Mac style RR Smith for 20 years. He is the guy I send my RRs to. I would send him the whole gun. He makes a spring loaded handle for his side cocking uppers. I'm sure he can set it up the way you want it.

One of the things I have learned after many many years of NFA accessory collecting is that when I find something I like I buy enough of them to last the rest of my life.
I have seen so many small companies manufacture great items and then go out of business.
Whether it is magazines, uppers, spare parts, or 'one-off' accessories the key is to buy them right then. Don't wait. As they say, "These are the good ol days".

I'd send it to Sam at Practical Solutions as well or maybe talk to TSC Machine as he has fixed a few. Mike at TSC mostly works on HK guns though.

As far as the gemtech collar. GSL technology still makes them and is now remaking the suppressors. For uppers talk with Sam about the Ghost uppers. You get side charging, a top rail, and a brass deflector as well as a solid front grip. It will not work with the collar by default but can be modified. TSC did it for me but Sam might be able to do it for you. It's a simple mod if you have the right tools.

Mike changed the front grip to the 4 screws and opened up the hole to make room for the collar. This way you can pull the front grip off to pull the collar if you need to replace it. This way though you end up with whats one of the best stock sized uppers, a good front grip, and the suppressor locked on like it should be.
