Sounds like your top cover is moving around and taking the scope with it. Can you get it to move in any direction by hand? Next time you take it out try putting a zip tie around the front and back pulled as tight as you can to hold the cover down against the frame. If no improvement maybe the scope is bad?

All of my Uzis are exceptionally accurate. No problem shooting shit off a gnats ass within 100 yds using cheap wolf ammo.

Nice, because for all my praise of the m11 I still have the semi-auto trip out of it so it’s a better sewing machine while full auto. So, there’s that. Full auto only. :cautious:

Lest we forget folks, machineguns are "an area fire weapon".;)

There's a reason some of them are select fire. Anybody here ancient enough like me to remember the 1960s classic TV series rat patrol? I remember one episode they send one of the drivers up to the rooftop with his Tommy Gun, and he needs to take out somebody across the little town. He sets it to single fire, folds up that beautifully made, extremely intricate, and at least in Hollywood extremely practical Lyman rear sight. Quickly judging the wind and distance he dials in the correction, takes careful aim, and drops the guy with one shot.

Area weapon? More like precision sniper rifle!

I think that 2.5" groups at 25 yards with open sights sounds fine. That would indicate to me that the gun is working A-OK. These are not target guns, with that pound of metal slamming around inside.

I have gotten smaller groups than that, but not regularly. It's kind of random.

I always just assumed that the reason the groups were changing size is because I was doing a crummy job of shooting. But now I'm wondering if the top cover isn't flexing like in the video. Or maybe the whole receiver is flexing.

My Vector shoots WAY better when I have my giant CAC9 can on it. That might be damping out the flexing of the receiver in some way.

I have a Thompson M1A1, the receiver is the opposite of an UZI, it's a massive block of steel. The whole gun is so overbuilt its not even funny, it weighs the same as M1 Garand. I'm going to try bench-resting it and see what kind of groups I can wring out of it.

I never thought about this before, but the UZI receiver is just a thin sheet metal U shape in cross section.

And it has a big cut out on one side for ejection.

A U-shape is really crummy for stiffness, especially in torsion. Because the open top lets the sides warp out of plane really easily.

With that 1.3 lb bolt violently ramming back and forth, I bet the receiver is flexing a lot when the gun fires.

Sub machineguns are intended for close-quarters fighting, they are not for long range battles. (like 100-300 meters, no matter what the sights may say).
They are fast firing, pistol caliber guns, designed and intended to hose down a close in target area with a large number of bullets.

To compare a subgun or demand the performance of one to any rifle is absurd.

I’ve seen some randomness in group sizes also, though very little with the OEM cover vs. the adapted ones with various optics. Must be a weight thing.
