I'm attempting to convert open bolt to closed bolt, I'd like to know what sized drills, what type and where I can purchase them please? Any information from experienced, any tips you can give would be much appreciated! Thank you! Keep Safe, Shoot Safe.

Is your gun a bolt gun or RR? If its a bolt gun I think you will need ATF approval to convert it. If it's a RR it would be easier to get someone like Barrel exchange or Tim Lafrance to do one for you since the bolt is hardened and would need to be softened machined and then rehardened. And the advantage is you will be able to go back and forth between open and closed since in closed the gun will run quite a bit faster.

I'm guessing here that he wants to take an SMG open bolt from a parts kit and trying to convert it to a semi auto closed bolt.

I think it would be easier to convert a semi bolt to FA than change a open bolt to closed. To change a semi to fa all need be done is to weld up the slot and weld the lip to the bolt face and machine the face to fit. To change an OB to closed you need to soften the bolt and machine the firing pin hole, machine to clear the retaining ring, machine off the right lower of the bolt for the striker and machine for where the striker spring goes in to the bolt then reharden the bolt. I don't suggest this but if you ran across a illegal fa closed bolt ( one with the supported bolt face) and a slot you are almost there just weld up the slot and you are done. But that bolt is illegal and is considered a machine gun by BATFE because it has the slot for the blocking bar. Though this is just me but you would think that BATFE would be greatful for anyone who did it because you would be taking an illegal bolt out of circulation but don't count on it.
