Hey guys just looking for a little advice. I have a model A but I don't have the original factory box for it. There's one for sale on eBay. He's asking 400. Should I pull the trigger or wait? Does it add that much value When I go to resell it? Thanks, guys.

The box does add value if you are a collector. But at 400$ that seems high. Others may have an opinion. Is it the cardboard box or the plastic one?

It only adds value if your gun is mint.

Having an old firearm "new in the box" is what a lot of collectors go for in terms of investments.
Used in the box won't add much, and definitely not enough to offset the purchase price of that box ($400).
If the gun is used (and shows it), then it's not as attractive to the kinds of collectors who value having the box.
Keep in mind, those boxes were serial numbered to match the gun, so even with the box, if the number doesn't match, it won't tickle a high dollar collector's fancy.

I paid about 2/3s of that for an AA pistol box although it did come with original factory mags.
Ultimately you may be the one most impressed with having the box as an "accessory".

$400 Sounds high.
I keep boxes that come with firearms I have bought.
I do not recall ever searching out a box for a gun that I have acquired that did not come with one though.

It was the blue cardboard box.
There Was one on gunbroker that just sold for $215. I got out bided on that 1. It was in pretty good shape.

Only problem is thats a plain white box I think.
Yeah, that was a joke.

Some guy here offered to buy it from me. I had to go to lengths explaining to him that it is just a plain white cardboard box.

You'd be better off waiting for one of the black plastic cases that the model B's came in. If you can snag one of those I'd go for it. I managed to get one for free off of customer whose gun we sold and then 6 months later he brought in the case.
That's what my Model A has for it now. My transferables came with those as well.
Do note that the hinges are kind of a weak link so be sure to inspect those carefully and the little locking tabs on the front.

Your transferables came in a plastic box like semi auto commercial guns do? The only NIB transferables I ever bought were a Vector Uzi and a M11/NINE. Both came in plain jane cardboard boxes. The M11 had a styrofoam cut out in the box. Hardly collectable.

Factory IMI UZI SMGs came in the same blue cardboard box with styrofoam insert as the semi-auto ones did, but with a sticker over the semi-auto markings that said "sub-machine gun"

Factory IMI UZI SMGs???

Aren't 99.9% of IMI full autos converted semis? So maybe someone converted a semi and sold it with the box that the semi came in with a decal. So its just a semi box with a decal.

Dealer samples/LE guns.
Factory full auto, IMI made submachine guns.
There are plenty around.

1. Those dealer samples and LE guns are not transferable to ordinary people. And I'd assumed were destroyed long ago when the uzi became a dinosaur. You can't sell old machine guns like you can old Glock pistols on Aim Surplus. Their status never changes. You can never own one.
2. Any transferable guns would have to have been imported before 1968. I somehow doubt many of them are kicking around -- and what few do exist are probably worth several times what an IMI converted semi goes for.
3. The box in question on ebay is a box for a semi. Look how long it is. Why would anyone want a semi auto uzi is beyond me. It sounds incredibly boring to shoot. Much less the cheesy plastic box it came it.

Do you guys even own any machine guns?

You once would have been correct however ATF has recently added SOME pre-may dealer samples to the transferable list. And the plastic case was used for factory made full auto Uzi’s and semi’s. Why make to boxes.

Here are some pictures of the box that one of my transferrable IMI UZI's came in. Started life as a Semi that Fleming converted. The serial number on my gun matches the box and the paperwork.
I think they all initially came in this way then later IMI was using the black plastic boxes:
