Easy to do, drill press with a bit that matchs the dia. of the hole and a die cutter will do the job.

Personally I'd use a milling machine because its super easy but not everyone has that option, if the OP did he probelly wouldnt have asked the question.

Without a mill I would use the receiver as a guild, pop the mag catch out of the way, line up the mag and scribe inside the area where the mag catch would be, then remove the metal.

I've considered machining a drop in jig to do them on with a mill and do a large run of them but my fear the tolerances may vary enough there could be issues if your not checking each mag for fit.

I would not follow the measurements in the video. By his own admission the schematic calls for the top edge to be cut 1.188 inches down. He cut 1.18 down. His mag is now sitting .008 low. Yes it will seat, but will it feed???? It may be sitting too low.

When I did a batch, I used a parallel bar against the end of my milling machine's vise jaws as a stop to butt the feed lips up against. That indexed the mags for me and I cut 15 fairly quickly. Just clamp and cut.

I have the vm hytech it works well. It has just enough room for magazine and there is no play in it like some other types. Two things I don't like is 1 the mag block adds a lot more weight than others. Other problem is the magazine release button is on the wrong side and kind of stiff

I cut mine at .186 and they tunred out fine. BUT YES, .008 is too low and feeding problems occur.

I hopefully plan to run a batch here at .186 once testing is done.

:soapbox I'll tell ya, I bought a few 20rd Uzi mags just to experiment with. I tried to mod them for the AR. The metal is super hard on the mag. I could drill thru them with carbon drills but then you have to file them. There isnt much room to file by hand. I did use a dremil after wearing my hand out. I went thru several dremil bores and finally got ONE to work. I took me about two hours to do this. I admit, I dont have special blocks and tools for this kind of stuff on mags, all my tools are for other gunsmithing things. So, I will just pay someone that has the proper tools for the job or just buy some that are already done. The Uzi mags seem just slightly more sloppy in the mag well but work just fine. They dont hold the last round open though. They are worth the money. The C Products are normally ok, but be carefull about some of thier followers, they do not all have the correct hight displacement and you can only get about 12 rnds in it and then it just stops. They will fix this for you though.
