UZI Optics Question

I have a full size Model B IMI.

I've only been to the range once with my Uzi. The iron sights work ok but they are a bit limiting. A nice red dot set up in on my list. Just trying to do a little homework.

Which site set up would you prefer: Low profile, Co-Witness or the Higher profile Rail Mount that cannot Co-Witness? Feel free to post pics of your preference.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I like this setup. Rail mount with a Leopold Delta Point RDS.

I run the rail version with micro tasco knockoff, like it a lot and only rarely pop the extra cover on and use irons (? I can use irons if i take the dot off also)
& the rail gives you more options on dots, acog.vortex.micro.tasco.cmore.bsa.

So you can still see the irons over the installed rail? After you remove the optic of course.

I swap mine out depending on the type of shooting I'm doing, or even what mood I'm in - it only takes a few seconds to switch back & forth. I like the co-witnessed setup the best, but sometimes I like the larger dot & more comfortable head position using the rail-mounted sight. Having the option of quickly switching back to plain open sights also gives you a lot more flexibility as well (competition shooting).

As long as you fit the top covers to the receiver so there's no slop - the zeros are repeatable no matter how many times you swap them out....no reason to limit yourself- top covers are relatively cheap & easy to find.

Have fun...

I just acquired a top cover and mount from rtg and a docter II red dot on eBay
Haven't shot it yet but that set up allows you to cowitness the iron sights which is what I wanted
The rtg top cover fit my gun tight as a drum right away and the mount is first class
Highly recommended

Only issue with the docter is that to change the battery you have to remove it from the mount
Most say the battery lasts for years so I guess it's not that big a deal

Thanks for the info. BTW, where did you pick up your sling?

The top one I bought form D&D (original Israeli) & I made the other one..... just some paracord, nylon strapping, & some buckles. If you check on Youtube & search for "paracord rifle sling", you should find quite a few ideas.

Cgrand,
When you get the chance, can you post some pictures the the mount with your Docter mount on it?
I would like to see how that looks.

Thanks.

The original post here by Cooter is my uzi and the picatinny rail I put on the cover. That is one I have for sale sitting on the hood of my GMC. I always have the original cover with me because if my electronic sight breaks, I can swap the cover out. I have several sights and I just don't carry 3-4 different allen wrenches with me.
