Bought this magazine as Valmet M76 30 round magazine off GB. It arrived, beautiful magazine but difficult to get locked into mag well and when the bolt is pulled back (also with difficulty) it stays locked back until mag removed. Its also not a 30 rounder as stated but a 40. Any ideas on what this magazine is? It doesn't look like any of my factory ribbed Valmet mags. Thanksvalmet 1.jpgvalmet 2.jpgvalmet 3.jpg

It looks like a converted G33 mag. There was a company in the late eighties or early nineties that produced and sold these. I can't remember the name but learned about them on some Valmet forum. In the early 2000's I bought a NIB M76 that had several of these mags. In my gun they hand fed just fine. I never had the heart to shoot it and ended up selling it. I understand it's a Valmet that this mag holds the bolt back? Possibly a little material off the top feed lips will need to be removed. Good luck.

It looks absolutely nothing like the factory Valmet M76 30 rd. mags I had.

I see two of those sold, for big prices.
My Real Valmet factory m76 mags, in nearly mint condition, sold for not much more.($275 each)

Don't try to modify it, to make it work. That mag's nearly worthless crap, especially for the money it cost.
Send it back, it's a very deliberate misrepresentation of what that mag really is. And be sure to let Gunbroker know, if he's not very helpful.

Definitely not factory Valmet. Some kind of aftermarket conversion. Some were done well, some were not. No factory aftermarket mags were ever produced that I know of, but hopefully Ruddiger can chime in on this.

I've got a few of the MaxCapacityProducts 40 round magazines for the Valmet 76. You will also find them marked LIQ.
They don't run as reliably as factory 30 rounders in full auto but work fine on semi. Especially when only loaded to 35 rounds.
The feed angle isn't messed up like the vast majority of aftermarket/converted mags (Galil/Polytech) that people try to make work.
Only problem I've had was a broken plastic follower on one magazine. Haven't found a replacement follower that will work yet.
Max Capacity also made H&K 33 mags that look similar as well.

MCP/LIQ mags in boxes and top right of photo...the rest are factory Valmet.

Circle 10 mags in 556. 45 bucks and 10 mins with a Dremel work perfect!

Thanks Dino81 and everyone else. Gonna go the mod/Circle10 route as I patiently wait for factory mags to pop up and I can afford them ;)
