Ok so I got my Vector model A back from being repaired today. I dont even know how this could be possible but it came back even worse than before! They could not have even test fired it. It jammed immediately. I used the same ammo and magazines that I have been using in my IMI model A which functions flawlessly. So I know that it is not either of those possibilities. Still failures to feed and failures to eject but much more frequently. The barrel is no longer loose, and they installed a new bolt.
( the original had the extractor pin banged in from right to left, and the bolt was all banged up around the pin)
Does anybody know of a competent firm who might be able to get this POS working well enough to sell it? I dont think sending it back again will do any good. Vector is obviously inept. Cant build em right and cant fix em either. This is a stainless/painted gun so foolishly I paid about $1049.00 if anybody is interested in a fixer uper project I would be willing to take $700.00 for it. Or make me an offer, I'll cut my loses and move on.

Yep, a lot of people have been complaining about Vector recently. You could try BWE for repairs. He's good but pricey.

Yea thats what Im gonna do, I sent them a letter the first time too. Probably didnt read it. you would think that they would test fire repairs before sending them back. there is no way they did that. It jammed up immediately.

Wow, that sucks. My vector, which I think was built only a few months ago, runs like a champ. SEEMS like they have a good rep for fixing stuff. Although, I have to point out to you that you probably should have called them beforehand and discussed it before posting on here. At least give them a chance. Might have been an honest mistake. Then again, they might have just dropped the ball.....EITHER WAY, CALL THEM.....

Um I called them before I sent it in to begin with. What good did it do me that time? Why would you assume that I havnt called them in the first place? Of course I called them!!

I dont think that Vector is using IMI barrels. Compare them side by side, there is an obvious difference in the exterior texture. My IMI barrell has visible machining marks going around the circumference, (really small grooves) My Vector barrel does not have them. I dont know if this means anything or not. Just my personal observation.

No, they're probably using those cheap barrels that are on GB. The ones that are really hit or miss on specs.

What cheap barrels are you referring to? I don't know of anyone who has a regular supply of cheap UZI barrels. I assume you're just making this shit up to support your campaign against vector, for some unknown reason.

Vector has used Green Mountain barrels for a long time. I'm not aware of them switching to anything else.

Rover Dave with all due respect, and I really mean that, I had trouble with my Vector barrel, it wouldnt tighten up. So I purchased a Green Mountain Barrell to see if it fixed the problem It got a bit better but was still a bit loose. There was a very obvious difference in the one that came from Green Mountain, which is a really nice barrel than the one that came with my Vector. I dont know what barrels vector is using but Im pretty sure that they are not either IMI or Green Mountain. I dont know if anybody here actually has a campaign against Vector. Some of us are dissapointed that our guns will not function properly even after being factory repaired. Speaking for myself I think that Vector will make it right for me. I will be satisfied if they do. But is it too much to expect them to work right out of the box? I do not think so.

Nope, not too much to ask. It's exactly what everyone should expect. Sometimes the Vectors meets that standard, sometimes they don't. That's why I've always be open and honest about what to expect from Vector. Some people here think Vectors are the best thing since sliced bread. They aren't. Other people think Vectors are a total piece of shit. They aren't. They are a mix of good and bad, and that mix changes over time, as vector switches parts suppliers and hires new people in their own shop. Unfortunately they don't spend much time on this site informing us of what's going on, like Rex did in the old days. That fact that your gun came back and still didn't work is sloppy service on their part. They did that at times in the past, but have usually been much better about it.

As for the barrel, you can't rule out green Mountain without asking Vector. Green mountain has had their share of quality control issues with the UZI barrels. Just search the old threads to see. As you say, your Green Mountain barrel still didn't fit the gun properly. Maybe vector has gone to a new supplier of cheap barrels. D&D is selling barrels. Maybe there's a supplier that makes barrels for the both of them.

I apologize if I ruffled anyones feathers.

It was merely speculation that with the recent complaints about Vector's quality. Particularly with the barrels.

But someone is making a lot of really cheap barrels and they're all over gunbroker. Specs are over the place with them. $79.95 for a new mini uzi barrel? Just remember that you get what you pay for.

I guess I'm just an uzi snob. But I do expect for a gun in particular to function properly when its new.

I assume you're referring to the barrels sold by D&D Sales. Do you have a set of data showing that the specs vary significantly on these barrels? If so, have you reported it to D&D? They are a member here and I'm sure they'd like to hear about your research. Other members would also.

When Vector returned my gun the damaged bolt had been replaced and both barrels would tighten down nicely. I was mostly talking about the visual difference which is very aparent. I dont claim to know anything about in spec or out of spec, That is the main reason I come here in the first place. To glean a little knowlege from those in the know.

I don't think its D&D Sales. Unless they're going under an alias on gun broker? I've bought a lot of parts from them and never had a problem with any of them. Just some guy on gunbroker selling them. A friend of mine bought one and the chamber was cut so deep the the cartridge rim was even with barrel end. I've heard others complain about the barrels that he's selling.

I'll shut up because I seem to be upsetting some people.

I'm waiting to get my Mini back from Vector. Should be here next Wensday ( Halloween?? thats an intresting day to get a troubled weapon back) According to Karen, they did a "barrel aligment", reamed/repared the resistor ring,(not sure why,) made the top cover work, reparked the entire gun, did a few other things & got it to run 40rds without any problems.. cool..... Now remember, this was a NEW stainless gun,(wonder how they park'd a stainless gun) out of the box, straight form the factory. I wonder if the reciever is in spec , it was extra wide to the point the trigger housing was "spread" apart @ the top to make it fit. Vector hasnt been the same since they got bought out awhile back. The write up Col Bishop did was before that. Evidently, the heat treament they did to strengthen the recievers made a few warp. & then the cut & weld to make a mini prob just created more probs in that area. All this on Group recievers that were outta spec to begin with. I guess all in all, Vector did a heck of a lotta work to make them work. I Know Bob, personaly,he is an outstanding standup guy, I'd trust his judgement without question. It was his writeup that convinced me to go with Vector. ALong with getting an FNC. & working on an lrb M14 with an ARMS mount...If anyones intrested, I'll let you know how she runs when she comes back. Funny, Halloween is prob a day you can walk around in your yard carrying a uzi & no one would be the wiser..
