I recently purchased a full size RR Vector Uzi that won't go thru a full mag without jamming rounds into the barrel hanging it up. I noticed when it arrived that the front sight was turned all the way to the left looking off center. Gunsmith says it's out of alignment slightly. I purchased a milled ramp from BWE and a new barrel. I'm hoping this solves the issues. If not I've got a $12,000 paperweight.

Was it NIB when you bought it or had it been shot before?

My Vector hates Federal ammo and anything that isn't round nose. Even a modest flatpoint makes it barf.

My original barrel has a chamfer on the outer edge of the barrel that most Uzi barrels do not, at least to the degree mine was chamfered. My theory is that this was done to mitigate the bolt sometimes striking the outer barrel edge as it is chambering a round (an alignment problem). I say this as an attempt to get a new Green Mountain threaded barrel to function was a miserable failure until I chamfered it with a file. Just something to consider when testing your new barrel. If you get a lot light strikes and you've checked your top plate fit (see UT archives) maybe you have an issue common to Vectors - misalignment that will required tweaking by someone with experience.

My gunsmith is a class 3 dealer and fully trained on Uzis. He's very skilled and shoots an Uzi regularly.

Just curious, who is the gunsmith you are using if you don't mind me asking. Always good to know about another skilled Uzi smith.

"Out of alignment" is usually a crooked trunion problem...... not the feed ramp or barrel
