Vector Warranty work

So I just received my Uzi back from Vector Arms. They were doing warranty work on it because it fired out of battery. Upon inspecting their work, I just noticed that they milled out the receiver end of the barrel on the inside where their was a bit of casing wedged when I sent it in.
I'm thinking that this will have an adverse affect on my gun's performance and am feeling a bit annoyed. I don't think this is acceptable. Am I wrong? Will this, in fact, affect my gun's firing in any way?IMG_0002.jpgIMG_0004.jpgIMG_0016.jpg

Is it the same barrel? We just got my kids back on Friday. They traded the barrels on his. The new one looks similar and the gun will now shoot everything from 115 Gr to 147 Gr FMJ, including hollow points. Before we sent it back, it struggled to shoot 115 S&B and/or WWB and would not even chamber any other FMJ. We are now happy with this one.........

My question, as I've seen this a few times now, is Vector modding the barrel to make it work so that every barrel you use will have to be custom fitted. If this is the case I think I will pass on getting a full size Vector Uzi and find an IMI instead, might cost a bit more but just don't like Mickey Ratoned firearms.

I know some here will get upset when people call Vector crap, but seems like a 5 year warranty only means that for five years they will Mickey Mouse the firearm to get it to work. One of the nice points of the Original Uzi is the interchangeability of parts to keep it running in the field. Most of us can't mill or grind barrels or other parts to get them to fit in a crappy QC'ed new firearm, that should have been built to tieghter tolerance

If the AWB goes through your five year warranty wont be worth squat because Vector will be gone. Bought an IMI and sold the Vector, good riddance.

imi-vector-ego?

no problem with my sa vector 45 acp with gg lower--ever. shoots everything i put through it. did buy a 22 conversion which required std. uzi lower, so i bought a surplus mg lower and converted it to sa. also bought some promag 45 mags--no problem with those either.

the 22 conversion--barrel was super tight so i had to polish contact points. been testing the 22 with several mags and ammo types--so far results have been acceptable with bulk.

When it comes to Semi Autos, I don't think Vector is a preferance among anyone. It's a money issue. A SA IMI is twice what you will pay for a vector. Now when it comes to full auto, then you get into more complicated territory as all the IMI full autos were conversions from Semi Autos and the Vectors were built as Sub Machine Guns from the ground up. I think that's where you see the Vector preferance among some. I own a Vector Full Auto. I chose vector for two reasons. 1) See Above 2) Vector is still in buseniss and will do warranty work (If Needed) on a Vector Full Auto. Does this mean I'm saying Vector Full autos are better than an IMI? No. Just the choice I made based on the above. Am I happy with my vector?...Yup.

Lol, and if they make your IMI illegal to own what will you do? They already don't want you to be able to transfer it or pass it to your children- ownership will be next, mark my words.

As for Vector, I love my Vector SMG, but having never owned a Vector Semi, I can't comment. We have a Vector SBR at the shop I work at and the fit and finish seems superb, but there again, never shot it, so I have no room to comment further.

So, I owe Vector Arms an apology, as I measured the chamber end of the barrel and it's just at the wide end of spec., yet still within.
I still don't understand how it fired out of battery though.
As for the Vector vs. IMI debate, if I were to pay the money for an IMI I'd have to get my FFL, as I wouldn't spend that much on a Semi-automatic Uzi... in fact, I couldn't afford it at this point.
So far, I've had the one FOB issue and they fixed it under warranty. I do admit that having had this issue already has me wary and wondering how my gun will hold up over time though... presently therefore I withhold opinion re Vector Arms, as I don't know anything about how common this is and if it ever happened with IMI Uzis and if so how often.

To the OP, the vectors are built like tanks. I would just shoot it and not worry how long it will last. It shoots better the more it's used. I'm not blowing Vector's horn but I have both IMI and Vectors and shoot the Vectors all the time. I had one issue that they fixed and it has been 5 years of trouble free shooting. Good luck from here on.
