My LM6 has no markings other than fire control marks and the serial number on the bottom of the gas block.

is there a chance you can blurr the last 2 digits and post a pic ??

Mine's currently in the shop to have the rail kit fitted, but I'll gladly post some pictures as soon as I can. I'll also take pictures of the rest of the markings. It's one of the Vektor models that were made with the slot for the optic rail.

Are you trying to make a period-correct one?

If it's anything like the SADF R5 it's at the bottom of the barrel right below the front sight.

Congrad,

If you can get a copy of the SADF R-Series Armorers/Repair manual it will tell you where all the serial numbers are located. It even mentions special tools to work on the R-Series rifle. I believe that the Vektors where made in a DENEL plant before Lyttleton took over and made civilian LM's. The history is not so clear due to weapons embargo on South Africa.

Congrad, here is a copy of the LM4-5 Series operators manual that I posted here for members hope that will help. I got the manual in Canada and have since mailed it back to South Africa to a good friend here on the Forum. There is a picture close up of a members LM receiver that you can contact and get permission to use. http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showt...(English-Only)-36-pages/page2&highlight=denel. I had a SADF manual but cannot find the file. I believe I might have lost it when my laptop crashed. I'll keep looking, but in the meantime there might be a member that has a copy they can post of the page that has serial number locations :). Lou

how about lm5 /R 5 serial numbers ?

I can only verify R4-5 Series serial numbers from the SA Army manual to be true. I have seen all kind of variations on the LM series. I can tell you that civilian models LM's, the serial number is located on the bottom of the gas block. That has been confirmed by the numerous S. A. members on this forum. All the true SA LM4-5 owners like the original Lyttleton LM's. A company Nobleteq was producing a later run of LM's and are not of the same quality of the Lyttlton production. I have seen serial numbers on receivers of earlier Lyttleton LM but then lacking on others. I hope that some SA LM owners can help out here. Lou

LM 6 Owner

Hi , I'm abit late to this thread , i own 3 LM 6's , Very hard to get info on these firearms , is their anyway i can contribute to this discussion ?
My Question 1 of My LM's Serial Number Starts with RSA whilst the other 2 Start with L , with regards to the manufacturing period what does this signify ? Meaning are they Lyytleton or Denel Or Vektor or Nobleteq(Doubt this)

I'm happy to provide pics for anyone studying these further as well

Many Thanks

The L serial number would most likely be LEW, but LM6 rifles built followed on with the "C" serial number. Some serial numbers may have a A1 suffix to denote the bolt configuration.

The LM6 with the "RSA" serial number was produced by Nobelteq. The serial number should be engraved on the barrel as well as the flat surface in front of the magazine well, at the bottom of the receiver.

Manufacture dates are difficult. LEW made the LM6 from 1991 - 1998. A Small number of LM6 rifles were built after that date.

Nobleteq purchased all the spares from Denel Land Systems (Formerly Vektor) in 2008 and started producing rifles.

My LM5 was built by LEW and has the "C" serial number under the gas block. There are no other serial numbers on the rifle.
