Receivers are easy to make but what is the point when you cant get any of the other parts.

I will probable make receivers in the future but I think I need to get other parts into production first.

Make several of everything you can and start getting the word out. I had a 760 for a few years and it was quite a challenge to find anything. I broke some parts and went on the Easter egg hunt to find parts. Eventually I was told to contact Scott Andrey. When I did, he told me "I'm going to make some of those in the next month or two and I'll let you know". I finally found what I was needing when I contacted Tim Lafrance in CA. Eight years later and I'm still waiting on that call from Andrey. The gun has since been sold.

A reliable source for quality replacement parts is an amazing thing. This is good news for the Stemple/Burges owners too.

Thanks for doing this Richard.

The other thing that owners gripe about is the heavy trigger pull. Do you plans for upgrading or improving the FCG?

Richard,

In addition to the usual bolts, springs and extractors, a heavy barrel @ 3 in long and treaded 1/2X28 would be great. It is great that you are taking on this project. I have put my 760 into the safe for lack of parts.. I'm sure you will make a lot of 760 shooter happy and create an additional income stream for yourself. Looking forward to the parts!

Hey Richard, not SW76 but how about a run of Sterling MK4 extractors?I would certainly buy 5 or 10.

I'll second the barrel shroud idea. Anyone who uses a thread on or QD can will want a shortened shroud to go with their shortened barrel. I've got one on order from Scott Andrey but I'd happily buy another.

I've heard this tale elsewhere. Sad.

These are a great start Richard. I'd consider a short barrel (around 3") that can be used with a can. Also, I recall talking with someone about making a bolt with the extractor in a different orientation (maybe like the uzi) so that the extractor is less prone to breaking.

+1000 on the canted extractor location replacement bolts. I believe they moved it up 20 degrees or so and widened it a bit. Also a one piece transfer bar (hardened) would be nice. That multi-piece sandwiched thing kinda sukz.

Also!!

Howsabout a replacement barrel to use those 5mm steel BB practice rounds that everyone has gallons of? I made one that worked great for about 3 thousand rounds until the bore got preened so severely that it was almost impossible to remove the jacket off the barrel. We section the barrel to see what it looked like. Incredible damage!! I have the pic somewhere and will post it.

Have you seen enough interest to start producing parts? If so have come up with a timeline?

Do a search on those bbls; unless Rusty changed something, they had a forcing cone that was wrong. It gave too strong a recoil impulse that would batter your gun. You can make it work safely with a CAR stock setup. I've got one somewhere if anyone wants to fool around with it. $50 big ones unless you are a supporter, in which case $35 shipped.

Bolts and any parts that have a limited life like extractors. Definitely a need for a reliable supplier, I know that I'll be stocking up on spares.

I would like to have an aftermarket barrel, bolt assy, sear, and recoil spring, that way I could use them in place of the originals.

BTW if you do make short barrels you will also need short barrel shrouds for them.

When I made mine, I did the cone too short and the recoil was impressive. The brass was even better...they came out looking like a 4 petaled flower. Four equal strips somehow hanging onto the base. I lengthened the cone and the rpm came right down and with a bit more tweaking, the brass came out perfect. My problem stemmed from the fact it most likely really, really needed to be hardened inside there. I'll get that pic up in the next day or two of what steel BBs do to plain ol' steel.
