I'm on the wait-list for a Lage belt fed upper.....unless my life takes a 180* turn I'll be buying it.

Thank you for sharing. Do you plan to use the updated version that uses standard M27 links or the original's modified link that uses the"tooth" in the link shute to hold the right side of the link? I have watched the announcement video quite a few times, but I can't really make out that detail. I would love to hear of the details you might be willing to share.

While the 1919 and MG 34 or 42 are cool guns, they are not an "off the shoulder" kind of rig. Certainly, off the hip, but I prefer aimed fire. Between the cost and weight of full size rifle caliber, I just think such guns are just too big and bulky.
My Fish & Game club does have parking right at the Action Ranges, where we shoot machine guns. But the idea of lugging full size rifle caliber belted ammo, tripod, and full size rifle caliber belt fed gun makes my back sore thinking about it. If that is your thing, more power to you.

Thank you for everyone's thoughts. Keep them coming. I find this subject very fasinating.

I totally shoot my M53 (semi) off the shoulder. It is massive and heavy and don't generally shoot too many rounds off the shoulder before I start to wobble pretty good! As soon as I start fatiguing it starts to bump fire so I have to put it down.

Things like the 42/34/1919 are massive and heavy. Definitely best for an emplacement. Amazing pieces of history.

Not practical for most of us but really no belt fed is. I'm not going to check the property lines or hike or keep a belt fed as a truck gun. I'll grab a SBR with a can in a rifle caliber because it's much lighter, handier and much less hassle to deal with.

I definitely get entertainment from asking my friends to grab the little blue case in the back of the truck for me because I know it has a nearly 30lb rifle in it. Some have gotten wise and just laugh and say no.

I think the belt fed uppers are awesome! However, I probably am not going to buy one. I would like to shoot one if I ever get the chance at one of the subgun matches/swapmeets, and I think that will probably scratch that itch for me, or…. It may drive me to buy one😂

Thank you all so much for sharing. "Offmarksman", I hope you get the chance to try a belt fed. I think that a 5.56X45 belt fed machine gun is so cool. They are a little heavier than an assault rifle, but I love how you can choose how much does your ammo supply hold. the backpack with a feed chute looks like it would be so much fun.

Richard, will your belt fed mech be modular like the original Colt/Ceiner/Valkyrie Armaments or is your feed mech built into your upper receiver?

A 223 beltfed is the sweet spot. Larger beltfeds:

Ammo costs
Surplus ammo is often corrosive
They take time to move and set up
Etc

But when I do take the time to drag out the bigger stuff I forget about that when I pull the first trigger. Unfortunately they don’t get out much even with a corrosive ammo stash

My shrike goes to the range just about every time. Light, fast, non-corrosive, belt fed. What’s not to love about a 223 beltfed?

Have a couple of M11A1 and a RR M16. Have very little interest in belt fed uppers for either one. They look pretty cool, but to me, a lot of the lure of belt feds are the guns themselves. It would be cool to rip off a belt of 556, but not much cooler than a mag or drum in for the AR.

To me, no upper can approximate the experience of an M60 or 249.

I do have a sear and DLO box, but haven’t quite gotten the motivation to send in my 21 parts kit to be built out. That said, if those MGA 249s were legal, I’d be all over it .

I was on the ofiginal 1st shipping list of the Lima6 but some stuff in life got in the way.
I'm debating now if I want to buy a Barret 107 or 82 and sell my bolt acfion 5 shot.
Or get the Lima6 and stick that extra kicker I have in it.
I have a 1919a6 in 30-06 and haven't shot it in probably 12 years.
I sold the MG34 semi gun due weight and being 8mm.

I kinda got the whole belt gun thing out of my system years ago.
But I am really leaning Lima6 I already have a nutsack and kicker.
And like Chile I reload so ammo isn't a problem with either the 50 or the 556.
I'm at the point where I pretty much have everything I want to shoot or collect.
They said it couldn't happen people but you heard it right here! A man has completed his collection!

Now that I think about it you might be right. :)

There really isn't a whole lot I want.
I can scroll through whole websites at this point in my life and not see anything I have to have or really want.

I'm at the point where not only do I not want anything else, I've got stuff that I've had so long I can't afford to sell it because the capital gains tax would kill me. Better that the heirs get the stuff, and they can keep or sell.
MHO, YMMV, etc.

I would have been very interested in a belt fed upper for my M10 but rarely shoot it now with such an abundance of platforms with reliable FRT's. I recently got an MFR and it just rips. I am also working on an FRT for my 249s and several others are as well. I do have my 10/15 setup for 7.62x39 but wasn't able to get the drum mag to work reliably (mag issue not Lage) but it it is fun with standard mags. Even though I also have the Max 10/9 I have been considering putting it back to the original classic setup to enjoy it in its original form.

At least to me, it is not about shooting a specific model of belt fed gun. It is about shooting a gun where I can possibly determine what is the ammunition capacity of the gun is. Just before and during the time I was going to buy a machine gun, I started buying Beta C drums. Also during the initial Tenko testing I bought 11 Surefire 100 round mags. I have no interest in buying a Shrike or any other Geoff Hearing products.

I have found that as capacity of ammunition goes up on the gun, the supply mechanism for the ammunition goes up exponentially. And as that ammunition capacity goes up the ease of burning up that ammunition at a faster rate certainly goes up. But, boy do I find it fun!
