I see the prices of suppressors has more than doubled over the last few years. I think more people are looking at them and a supply and demand thing. I have been in the game a long time, so I know the deal. Just looking for something closer to the $500 price. I see some are over a k.

Coastal has an Ultima .45. They are a small shop but have been around a Long time. I have a integrated MK-II that is just awesome. It has been around a while.

YHM has a Sidewinder M2 .45. I don't know much about them. YHM has been around a while.

Osprey just looks goofy.

It would be nice to use it on a 9mm and maybe a .300 BO. I think most would.

I know the story of buy once and cry once, but I also know that most expensive does not necessarily mean most better.

Have you checked out Bowers? He makes some nice high volume cans suitable for SMG applications. They were relatively less expensive than average when i picked up a Vers45 a few years ago.

Do you want a pistol suppressor or a subgun can or what?
I am thinking a pistol suppressor. I have a HD subgun can, but it is probably going to be pretty heavy for a pistol. My first intent was for a 1911. So from what I seem to find it does not need a Inertia device. But if I want to switch to a 9mm it may be needed??

I do have one for a .300 (semi auto rifle) so that would be just an extra.

I actually thought Coastal was out of business. I purchased a 30cal suppressor from them many years ago and then they completely fell off the Earth. Their website seems to be gone anyway. Have you heard from them recently?

As for your question, several years ago, Thompson Machine, which produces a 45 suppressor called the QMF (and yes, it stands for what you're thinking) put up a sale for some slightly shorter variants they'd made which they called the QMF-CQ and they were selling them for $299 without an adapter. They claim it would take the adapters for Gemtech Multimounts but my experience with this was mixed. Their QMF adapter definitely worked on my Multimount though. I used it in both a 45ACP 1911 pistol and it worked perfectly without a Nielsen device, and then I also used it in a 9mm semi-UZI (they said it was good for multi-caliber use) and it's sound reduction was just about the same as the Multimount. I don't know if they're still selling it for that price or if they have any left, but you can always try contacting them to check. I was thinking of reaching out to them to see if they still had them but my job situation just took a turn so I can't really plan anything out right now. I can post pictures of it if you'd like.

Here's the thread where they offered it.

I just seen this earlier about one of their suppressors I ran across.

It looks like not in production any more. But they do have a Poseidon .45. It is small and light, great for a 1911, and a price of $399.

The big questions are, what does it sound like and is it available? I need to dig up some reviews.

BTW how was the QMF?? It says it is a wet can. I would prefer to stay with a dry can, but....

The instructions said it would work wet or dry. I used it wet and like I said, it reduced the sound about as well as the Gemtch Multimount. I think it came with a wipe which was listed as optional use and I never used it but it didn't affect its function. Using it wet did make it a bit messy to clean but a lot of people say you shouldn't even clean a can to begin with. I come from the "keep your guns clean" school, and though I know a suppressor is different, I can't get past the habit of wanting everything clean.

Rex Silentium has a 45 can for $500.

My only first hand experience with 45 cans is a Sico Hybrid 46 and my home made F1 can.

I would look at a Griffin Armament Bushwhacker 46 Gen2. I have the Bushwhacker36 and really like that it is still user-serviceable. It has a nice ratcheting front end cap as well. You should be able to get it under 1K if you can find it in stock.

It reminds me of me and computers. I was into computers when computers were not cool.... I was into suppressors when they were not cool. Now it seems there are a LOT of companies out there. You get older and times change when you are not looking.

Now that is a different design!!!

Wow, there are a lot of either new or older companies coming out of the woodwork.
Tons of companies. Hopefully that helps eventually remove them from the NFA.

I use the Rex pistol booster in my form 1 can. Seems to work very well. I've been eyeing their 12ga suppressor.

Hard to find them on a search unless you know them by name or ask around. That is why I am asking.

12 gauge suppressor??? Ohh don't bring that up... I always thought of one many years ago. I need to shorten my list not add to it!!
