Vektor CR21 Build

Here's the story, I bought a Golani that after a few minor adjustments, has run very well. I have always wanted a CR-21 and have been on a very, very long quest to obtain the parts for one. So far, I am only missing a few small parts but I think I have enough to start the build. I will post pictures as it progresses.

Very much looking forward to future updates on this project!

FWIW, I feel like Magals in .223 would also be a worthy project for a Golani...

Shown here is the installation of the trigger and safety. There are two small plastic expansion pins that have the Vektor logo on them that hold the trigger assembly in place.

Alright so I have a bunch of pictures on this but I can't seem to get them to upload. I can only get one to load per post!

You're best served to upload them to a third party site and then embed them in a post rather than uploading to uzitalk's servers IMO.

IIRC, you used photobucket last time. Load them there and share a link to the public album and myself or another member can embed. Or you can also right click on images to get the :image address." Then just copy and paste that address into your post when using the "insert image" button -- between the envelope and the video film here. Great project -- as previously stated looking forward to the conclusion.

ljspoon, You are indeed fortunate! I dont know where or how you managed to get the parts but it will be very interesting to know how many CR21 rifles made it to the US?
As well as how many of these parts kits made it to the US?
I do know that at one stage, or in fact this what I heard, was that Vektor did sell the parts kit back when they started the CR21 to the public for conversions on the LM series rifles. People could apparently buy the parts kit and convert them LM4/5 to CR21. Maybe Ady here on the forum here could give some insight regarding this?

I tried a while back to get CR21 parts and the shell with no success. Seems like these are worse than hens teeth. My goal is similiar to what you have done. I am planning on buying a Galil AR here in South Africa in the future and want to do the same. I just dont have the heart to do it to a LM4 or LM5.

But very nicely done its builds like this that take passion and dedication and one appreciates it more!
This is one epic build!

The next part to install is the heat shield. This includes the epoxy ring that centers the barrel. It covers the barrel as it exits the shell, there are slots in the top to facilitate the gas vent.

Here is the epoxy ring slid onto the barrel

As you can see here, the heat shield fits into this cut. The epoxy ring fits into the inside of the heatshield. This prevents debris from entering the muzzle end of the shell and allows the rifle guts to be removed without taking off the muzzle device.

The shell retains the heat shield, trigger assembly and the charging handle.

I'm not too sure about Vektor selling CR-21 parts kits to convert LM's over. It wouldn't be a simple conversion as some machining would be required on the LM receiver and the gas block is different to that of the LM. Removing a LM gas block and installing a CR-21 gas block would probably mean sending the rifle back to Vektor at the time so that they could do the conversion.

You can pick up a CR-21 Wildcard. Just buy a rifle instead of converting another one and struggling to find parts.

ljspoon, i created a CR-21 specific thread, would you mind putting some of your pics up under that thread? I didn't split my CR-21 body. Your pics of the internals would be a great addition and will make a nice CR-21 resource in one spot.

Ady, I will add pictures of the internals to your post, it was very helpful to me in this project.

I saw the auction yes. Starting at R18000 thats about $1200. I picked up a Galil for next to nothing so it will be much cheaper almost next to nothing and a project like this should fit me perfectly. And be worth it all. I do have a few items but still need a thing or 2 though.
