Cardboard attracts moisture and paper probably does too. Plastic wrap may adhere to the metal. Wax paper rubbed down with oil may work> I use gun socks. They're relatively cheap and work for me.

For the the guns, a gun safe with some sort of de humidifier, box of silica gel can be brought back to life after a couple hours in the oven. Mags I put in tupperware in a temperature constant room. I have electric heat so the air in my house is very dry in the winter and air conditioning in the summer eliminates most of the moisture in the air. I also use gun socks
coated with silicone for the most expensive long guns.

Auto shops and any place that deals with new parts will have a bunch of "vapor paper" they throw out from the parts that came in. An occasional six pack dropped off around quitting time can usually induce someone to save you a box full of them.

FrogLube paste applied will not allow rust to grow.

There was an extensive test of over 25 products by a random guy many years back and only two stood up to salt spray tests and FrogLube was one of them. That’s what I use for storage. If not in the safe then it’s in boxes on shelves.

Yeah, this: VCI stands for volatile corrosion inhibitor and VPI stands for volatile protective inhibitor. VCI or VPI are papers and films treated with engineered chemicals that safely prevent corrosion on protected metals.

I'll take a picture of the bags I have been using lately. They have really nice velcro closures.

you can find VCI and VPI paper and bags at U-Line. They are inexpensive and will sell any quantity you want. I by the 8X11 sheets and throw them in boxes and gun cases or use them to wrap parts. Swap them out every couple of years. I thought about the resealable bags, but just went with the paper instead.
